Family Summer Vacation in the Med

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Norwegian Epic

We chose the cruise because of the bucket list itinerary. Only I had been to Rome, but not to the rest of the ports, and DH/DS had not been to any of them. We arrived in Barcelona several days prior to sailing, and very glad we did, to have time to explore some of the gems of this vibrant city. We stayed on Las Ramblas, just south of Plaza Catalunya, which was a perfect location. Great food, ...

Our first ever cruise. Wasn’t sure what to expect. On paper both the 7 day western med cruise and the Epic sound amazing. It was a really great holiday, however didn’t come away with the ‘cruising bug’, and won’t be in a hurry to book again. The cabin (family mini suite) was great if a bit tatty. Size wise yes it’s small but for our family of 4 (2A and 2C) it was sufficient if a little cramped ...

We chose this cruise because we had been on celebrity summit previously which was excelllent. We did back to back cruises of the Mediterraneanthis time. The destinations were wonderful but the staff were poor in comparison with a few exceptions Suraraj , Joyce and Choti. We travelled in a sky suite which gave us access to Luminae restaurant and Michaels club. The concierge never spoke to us the ...

My wife & I were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. We had spent 5 days in Barcelona (fabulous) and before that we came off a 10-days cruise from Athens to Barcelona on Oceania's Riviera (owned by NCL). Up to this point everything was wonderful.-just what we anticipated. Then came the NCL cruise on the Epic. We chose this cruise because of its great itinerary. We should have done more ...

First time cruiser. Crew were generally great and biggest asset of NCL. However, not relaxing as anticipated... Boarded and had to wait from midday to 8pm for room so could not shower or change clothes. The "all inclusive" but pay for some things was confusing, as were complementry (or not) shows and dining, especially when online account showed charges that subsequently disappeared. Because we ...

Disappointing experience.

This is my 5th cruise with the family, the first one with Norwegian. Overall the experience was quite disappointing. Below I highlight the main issues: 1- Extremely noisy: we were located on cabin #14013; noticed at the first night we were below the kitchen! The noise within the cabin was unbearable and we did suffer several consecutive sleepless nights. A formal complain was made at the ...

We were on the 7 day cruise from Barcelona, Spain to Rome Italy. We were traveling with our adult children, ages 20 and 22. It was a beautiful trip. We have never traveled with Princess before. It was very average, nothing over the top. I have definitely been on better cruises. The food was not the best. I have had food on other cruises where I couldn't wait for dinner or wanted all on ...

We decided to cruise with Royal Carribean because of its reputation of being fantastic for families. We travelled as a party of 12 including 4 children ages ranging between 4 and 8. Embarkation from Barcelona was quick, smooth, simple and welcoming. We had an inside stateroom which was on the small side but had everything we needed. The destinations we visited were fantastic. We did not ...

Great Itinerary, Not so great boat

We were interested in the itinerary. Lots of great stops and starting in Barcelona ( we spent 6 days there before the cruise.) Many stops are a hassle to get to so we used more shiop tours than we normally would. The ship- this old girl was never a really pretty boat and now its old and dirty. Not horrible but not great. Dining on this ship was great. We loved our servers and the main dining ...

- 7 day Western Mediterranean cruise on the Norwegian Epic embarking from Barcelona. - Embarking went very smoothly with clear instructions and plenty of assistance on hand. - Had the Mid-Deck Balcony stateroom. Decent room size for a couple although really did'nt use the balcony much. The attendant looking our cabin was very friendly and kept the room tidy. - Good dining facilities. Good ...
