Not Living Up to its Promise

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Azamara Onward

Prior to booking, we heard so many wonderful things about Azamare and its onboard service that we were looking forward to experiencing it for ourselves. We might have been expecting too much. My wife and I are pretty experienced cruisers. We’ve been on Viking Ocean and River, Celebrity, Princess, Royal Caribean, and Virgin. We appreciate the small ship experience on Viking and Azamara more than ...

Our first -- and last -- cruise on Azamara

This was our first – and last – cruise on Azamara. We’ve been on about 15 cruises on five different cruise lines, but we’ve never had such a miserable experience with a cruise company’s office and corporate personnel before. Apparently, the transition from being a part of Royal Caribbean to independence has been a rocky one. The website almost never worked, and I spent days and hours on hold ...

Nice Trip, but Problems!

For the most part, we enjoy Azamara, and this was our third, and likely our last, cruise with them. PROS: The onboarding and offboarding processes both went very smoothly. The life boat drill was short and perfect. Overall, the ship is clean, our cabin was nice, and the staff is mostly very accommodating. CONS: No champagne service offered during onboarding this trip. The only high end wines ...

Smallest shower I've seen.

Our friends chose this cruise to ensure we got some 'winter' sunshine and it was part of a slightly longer hotel and cruise stay. The cruise could have easily been so much better with a little bit of organisation. The embarkation was disorganised and some people were left in a holding area for no apparent reason. We arrived with our friends (2 groups of 2) and we were guided to 2 different check ...

Expensive cruise and certainly not worth the money

Review for a Canary Islands Cruise on Azamara Onward

We chose this cruise as we had originally booked a south Africa cruise which was cancelled due to COVID. We moved it to the following year and when it was getting near to time to pay covid was raging through South Africa. Azmara said they were still going ahead with the cruise but being OAP we did not want to put ourselves at risk by going. We told either lose £600 deposit or book another ...

Pre-Cruise - 3 destinations changed with no reduction in price. Complained to Azamara before we set off and were only given $300 onboard credit as compensation. Check-In - Some sort of IT failure meant we couldn’t check in for 3 hrs. When IT system came back, even though we’d checked in online pre-cruise, the process of checking paperwork and taking photos etc. took a long time. No drinks, even ...

Nice but not special

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Azamara Pursuit

We chose this cruise because of the itinerary and because we’ve travelled before on an “R” class ship (one of Oceania’s). We travelled from New Zealand to London to see friends after 3 years of covid lockdown separation. Having been caught out by travelling to the port on embarkation day in the past we built a day into our itinerary to get from London to Bordeaux. This worked in our favour as the ...

Great itinerary but not what it used to be

The sail-in to Sevilla, Spain alone was worth the trip. We were so very lucky with the weather too, not a drop of rain the entire time. Unfortunately, Azamara's service has declined and no longer offers what once was a family and familiar atmosphere. The familiar "Welcome aboard/Home" greetings are gone. Most staff (wait and bar staff being the exception) just go through the motions. Hard to ...

I have never done AZAMARA before my best friends did and had a great time. I originally booked a greek cruise and was cancelled, no lift and shift then there was so this was the cheapest i could find. PRE CRUISE. As it was my birthday on 27th oct this was the closest i could find. I asked others if we could meet up in ROME for a DINNER was not interested. I flew out on 26th oct to ROME, ...

We did both this cruise and the subsequent leg (Transatlantic in Cabin 4060. Positives --The ship is well laid out and easy to get around. --With the exception of the Officers' BBQ (come early!) and the White Night (come early!) it was easy enough to get a seat at any dining venue whenever you liked. --The crew was well trained, helpful, and seemed to enjoy their work. --The local ...
