Six of us traveled together from three different states. The ship was very nice - clean, attractive. Food was very good as was food service.
A Viking river cruise is like a resort on water so a bit boring for active adults. I would suggest an included excursion in both the morning and afternoon. The paid optional excursions are generally more interesting than the regular included ...
This review is for the ten night Passage to Eastern Europe itinerary. Kudos to Viking for their product quality. The hotels in Budapest and Bucharest were outstanding. Viking Ullur was perfectly maintained and the crew was friendly, competent and efficient. The quality of the food was excellent and the excursions were well organized and informative.
The only truly negative part of this ...
I Loved the itinerary and all the ports we visited. The guides were very informative, although the excursions were very strenuous. Excursions were definitely not for the weary traveler. They were interesting and worthwhile. The service was impeccable, from the front desk who went totally out of their way to please all the guests. Very capable & friendly. The cabin person was adorable and ...
Viking had us covered! We were happy with the food, the service, the excursions, the staff! I would give it a 4.5 out of 5. My only complaints were the very small beds (and we had issues with the reservation process which I will send in separately). I also wish the elevator went to the top floor, for those with mobility limitations this was an issue. Hope this will be a feature in future ...
We preferred to include Prague and Paris on land as part of this itinerary which focused on German towns. Did not realize ship was not at same spot when arriving and departing all ports.
The staff was amazing but there wasn’t enough entertainment after dinner. Piano man was very good but not enough.
The Music Trivia engaging game by team was fabulous. Additional Inter-active activities ...
We loved the cruise. Great trip, food, excursions, services, the top deck viewing/walking area and cabins were exceptional. Unfortunately, almost everyone got a mild case of Covid.
Regarding the flight arrangements, I was disappointed that my airport - PHL - was not used for a direct flight to Europe. There are direct flights from PHL to Amsterdam which would have saved us 2 1/2 hrs. Going ...
We chose this cruise because we had done the Rhine Getaway and wanted an extended time through Hungary and Austria. We did a pre-cruise in Budapest to recover from jet lag and enjoyed browsing Central Market and touring the Jewish Synagogue. We did several included excursions on our cruise and three optional excursions…the best one was the barge tour in Kinderdyjk, Amsterdam to visit a working ...
We chose this cruise because we'd never been to Romania, Serbia, or Bulgaria, and we wanted additional time in Budapest, where we had been cut short on a prior trip. We did the pre-extension to Transylvania, which was wonderful. Gorgeous area, and beautiful mideval town of Brasov. I have taken 8 Viking River cruises, and have always been impressed with the ships and personnel. However, each ...
My wife and I booked our cruise down the Rhine as a retirement indulgence. We chose a September sailing so that the ports of call would be less crowded with families since most kids would be back in school.
Overall, we enjoyed our experience, but we got off to a bit of a rocky start. Our flight into Basel was delayed so we arrived about an hour later than originally expected. There was a ...
We chose a grand European tour so we could see many sites on one trip. We chose Viking because of their high ratings, and we were not disappointed. The ship was nicely laid out with opportunities for indoor or outdoor relaxing. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. The food was delicious, and we appreciated the serving sizes- so much more appropriate than American restaurants. We did ...
