Being a Danish-American, and wanting to tack a aft-visit to Copenhagen after our voyage, we gravitated to the British Isles Explorer tour with Viking. We were fortunate to have excellent weather and no port changes so our travels were wonderful! The ship was excellent, couldn't have been better, but the star of our trip was the staff. From our cabin steward, YaYa, to just polite hellos from ...
We were looking for a cruise ship that had less people, and better shore excursions. Viking Ocean Venus provided us with everything we asked for. The itinerary was diverse, the Deluxe Veranda cabin was just enough without loosing any of the Viking experience. Food was great, we liked the buffet so much we spent most of the meals there instead of the restaurant. Entertainment was just enough ...
This was our very first cruise. On the whole it was good, and we plan to sail with Viking again, but there were some hiccups.
About a year before the cruise, they shifted us to a different ship leaving about a week later. And a few months after that, they announced that three of the planned stops had been changed. We were very disappointed to miss Belfast, but Isle of Man was very nice and ...
A great cruise to see the various areas of the British Isles, with Bergen Norway as a bonus. Enjoyed each port which included ones in Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and England. Starting in Bergen added variety and interest to the cruise. The Mars ship was nice, clean, comfortable, and well laid out. The ship’s stabilizers allow for relatively smooth sailing even in stormy conditions. Crossing the ...
For celebrating our 50 th anniversary we chose Viking for it’s high ratings and ideal itinerary.

Two problems - skipped a key port and challenging for someone with a dairy sensitivity! The itinerary for this trip looked great but we were unable to stop in Edinburgh, one of the main stops we were interested in. We spent the day cruising around the Orkney Islands instead. The scenery was beautiful, but we were really looking forward to Edinburgh. Rumors were that the ship that was blocking ...
This was our third viking cruise, (the first two were euro rivers,) and second ocean cruise ever.
I appreciate everything Viking does and tries to be. A quieter, more intimate experience with cultural enrichment and classical entertainment. The loud, roudy ocean liners with casinos, kiddos, and cigarette smoke are so not our scene.
Viking ocean cruises are a better compromise for those who ...
After 25 cruises, we thought we'd try Viking due to excellent reviews. We were underwhelmed. Firstly, two important ports were canceled (Edinburgh- another ship unexpectedly remained in the berth reserved for our ship) and Dublin due to poor weather. We received no compensation for port duties and missed excursions; we were offered $500 credit towards a future cruise. The service in the dining ...
We have just returned from the Mars cruise from London to Norway 8/1-8/15. We've done a Viking river, 2 ocean and Antarctica, in addition to cruising many other lines over the years. We will not be cruising with Viking again for a long time for the reasons below:
1) We are 60 and 65 years old and we are not their demographic. They do nothing to accommodate a slightly younger crowd . We ...
We chose this cruise because others told us about their wonderful experiences and they were right! Planning the trip on the website was so easy. Filling out the forms and having access to important information throughout the process was extremely helpful. The transfers and security were run seamlessly. Every single staff member that we encountered, was professional, courteous and very kind. The ...
