First Time Cruiser

So the Cruise to Norway, Scotland and England was marvelous. The first day when we arrived in Bergen we toured the ship. Our cabin was wonderful and the balcony let us go out and sit and see the city. The cabin seemed just right for two people. We walked around the Viking Star, saw the Restaurants, the Pool, the Lounge and everything was so nice. After dinner I left for a walk around Bergen. The ...

BACKGROUND My husband and I have cruised on our own sailboat from the US Eastern Seaboard through the Bahamas and all the way down the Caribbean Island chain. Sometimes it was unavoidable anchoring our boat in the same harbor where the ships docked. After seeing the cruise ships disgorge thousands of passengers on tiny islands, having to listen to their loud music and announcements, and ...

Love the Viking Ocean Ships. Everything adults would love, lounges, restaurants and entertainment and well traveled passengers. It is port intensive and allows you to visit the most important cities in England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Norway. Plenty of time to stay at the ports to look around on your own. Perfect for seasoned travelers. Lounges are well positioned inside and outside of ...

We saw this on cruise critic and booked thinking we had booked a 29 day cruise but we had actually booked to separates cruises. This has pluses and minuses so people should check before departure, unlike us. I was disappointed with the food compared to its ratings, as it was bland and aimed at the American market. Probably ok if you are American. Our room was great and staff were very helpful. ...

We chose this cruise because we had enjoyed one of Viking River Cruises. Embarkation went very smoothly. The ship is beautifully appointed, the crew were friendly and helpful, always ready to do anything to make our cruise a good one, the food was very good and there are so many places to eat. There were guest lecturers who were fantastic!! Our cabin was a bit tight, but then who spends much time ...

Had a phenomenal cruise in 2016 - Viking Homelands. Try to match that experience. All went went this year, but the destinations just can't compare. A few too many sea days on this cruise, three were planned which is borderline too many on a short cruise / smaller ship. Having a 4th unplanned one was just too much. Tromso as a destination was way over-rated. The included tour included such ...

This was our second cruise on this ship. As with their River Cruises, Viking excels in attentive service on board and they did not disappoint. The staff, from the cabin attendants to the servers and entertainers make every passenger feel as though they are the only ones who matter to them. As expected, it was an older crowd - generally with an average age of 55-60ish. We did have a few younger ...

We have used Silversea in the past but were not happy with them on our last Cruise so we decided to try something different. We did a lot of research and the reviews for Viking were very good so we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed - in fact we think it was excellent. We had excellent flights - mostly night flights and no issues at all. We were met at the Barcelona Airport when ...

We wanted to visit places we would probably never go to on our own. Seeing Iceland, Greenland, and Newfoundland were a dream come true. Viking once again out did themselves with service, planned excursions, entertainment, and extremely interesting lectures each day. The ship was beautiful and our cabin was roomy and gorgeous and complete with a fantastic view. The meals were always wonderful ...

This cruise while enjoyable did not live up to the standards we came to expect from Viking. One wonders if this was the result of growing pains. That said, this was our fifth cruise with Viking and we have two more already on the books for later in 2017 and 2018. This feedback is for both the Normandy and Baltic cruises. Both ships were beautiful and meticulously maintained. The cabin personnel ...
