A Lifetime in the Northern Lights

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Venus

We wanted to see the Northern Lights and we wanted the lap of luxury that Viking offers. We received both, luckily with the Northern Lights, and gladly and affirmatively with Viking. From the first greetings to the last goodbye they all make you feel like every part of your stay with them matters. The ship is immaculate, which is important to me. The food was excellent, the entertainment is ...

Northern Lights, Dog Sledding and More!

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Venus

There were plenty of bucket list items to check off on this once-in-a-lifetime cruise: seeing the Northern Lights, going dog sledding and snowmobiling, seeing the ice hotel in Sorrisniva, and going to a Sami camp. This was our first (but not last) ocean cruise on Viking. We chose this cruise for the adventurous excursions and the chance to get off the beaten path in cold and snowy Norway. From the ...

Amazing Adventure and Sights

Sailed from Bergen to Narvik, Alta, Tromso, Bodo, Stavanger ending in London. GREAT service, Super COVID Protocols and cleanliness. We have cruised on 10 plus cruise lines and Viking did an outstanding job with excursions, food, service, COVID, and more. Enjoyed the Aurora Borealis from the ship, in Alta and Tromso. Dogsledding was amazing. Beautiful countryside and people. Viking did a ...

An honest review from personal experience

We have just returned from our first-ever cruise (Viking Northern Lights). We chose Viking because of its business model which appeared to suit our general requirement for high-end travel. Unfortunately, the reality didn’t quite meet Viking’s service-level claims. Much of what they do is good, but there are many areas that require finessing before it can truly claim to deliver a luxury travel ...

ARTIC TRADEOFF: Operations during COVID vs Norwegian Beauty

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Venus

Operations during the COVID lockdown were more difficult and restrictive for passengers and crew but the 450 plus passengers completed the trip without incidents as far as we could determine. The safety protocols in place restricted passenger movement on ashore excursions keeping passengers in a bubble much like the NBA playoff protocols earlier in 2021. We expected this based on phone calls to ...

I chose this cruise when Viking e-mailed us a very good offer with zero single supplement. We arrived from LHR at 2.30pm and quite quickly we were through the airport checks. It’s much faster if you have VERIFLY completed. We were directed to waiting buses and transferred to the ship. In under 10 mins we had completed our check in documents and stateroom card in hand walked out to the ship First ...

Fabulous Cruise - Cities Visited, Excursions, Ship, Safety during Covid

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Jupiter

Because of Covid and resulting cancelation of most cruises during the summer of 2021, we were not able to take a planned cruise on another line in August. However, we found an 8 day cruise on Viking which circumnavigated Iceland. We had been to Reykjavik before, but nowhere else in Iceland, so decided to take the cruise. Viking has an awesome Covid protocol so we felt we could do it safely. We ...

Gorgeous small ship, average food, odd and inconvenient management and vendors

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Jupiter

The Jupiter is absolutely beautiful. We took the Iceland cruise, one of the first post-COVID announced (75% capacity, just after the first 50% capacity shakedown cruise) and the scenery was just as you've read about. Technically the Jupiter was three years old but because it had been mothballed during COVID, it was essentially a brand-new ship. Perhaps due to that, or perhaps it is simply a vessel ...

A great escape from the Covid gloom

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Viking Venus

The Covid-19 pandemic had caused the suspension of most cruises for around two years. So having sailed many times with Princess, P&O, Azamara, Regent and other cruise lines, we have been hoping for a cautious resumption. At the time of writing, the UK government allowed cruise ships to sail with no more than 1,000 passengers (or 50% capacity, whichever was less). So clearly, it would have been ...

Disappointing

We have done several Viking cruIses before so we were expecting more, The shore excursions were less than expected - even the extra cost ones were less than expected. The buses were full and uncomfortable. One couldn't even make it up the hill out of town and all the guide was worried about was if she was going to be back in time. The walk to the buses was long and over wet and slippery ...
