Bucket list cruise. Positives: amazing cruise itinery; ship staff in general very attentive. Naturalists were top notch and gave interesting lectures. Open bridge was a nice addition. Did not go to evening shows so cannot comment. Negatives: lazy butler; nice cabin but not spectacular; weak/no Wi-Fi in cabin (went to Azure cafe to connect to the internet); no place to hang wet clothes; no ...

Great ship and crew; horrible company.

My review is great for the ship and crew (5*) but very poor for Scenic as a company (1* - would not book with them again). First the good – the ship is fantastic. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. The bedding was the most comfortable of any ship we have been on. The crew is extremely well trained and works very hard. This ship has a decent number of dining options for a ship this ...

A tale of Covid, average cruising experience and a 6* price tag!

Review for a South America Cruise on Hebridean Sky (APT)

This was the Chilean Fjords Cruise starting in Buenos Aires, Ushuaia to Santiago. Sadly after just a couple of days on board Covid closed all the Chilean and Argentina Ports, which meant diversion to the Falklands, and a repatriation flight home to UK. In short we spent 14 days on board, mostly circling around port Stanley, being fed and watered, but only made two short excursions before the ...

Nowhere near 6 star

I chose this cruise 2 years ago as I thought if I was going to the Antarctic I would do it in style and comfort. I chose what was supposed to be the second season so issues could be ironed out but because of delays it became the first season. Firstly we only became aware of our early transfer from Buenos Airies to Ushuaia less than 2 weeks prior to departure no time to arrange alternate ...

Unfulfilled promise

This is a difficult review to write, as some parts of the cruise were excellent and others extremely disappointing. My bottom line is that Scenic ultimately failed to deliver the “6-star” experience they promoted. I am limiting the review to those aspects of the trip specific to Scenic and the Scenic Eclipse. The destinations themselves, the Falklands, South Georgia, and the Antarctic ...

We had sailed on the Scenic Pearl river cruise and it was wonderful so we were anxious to try the Scenic Eclipse. We were scheduled for the cruise in 2018 but the ship did not get built in time. We then rebooked for the 2019 cruise. As on the river cruise the staff was professional and friendly. The discovery team (expedition team) did a great job of educating us about the areas we were visiting ...

Hudson River Fall Foliage Tour

Review for a North America River Cruise on American Independence (formerly Independence)

Hudson River - Fall foliage peak times are hard to predict and we missed the color this year. I would recommend taking a late October cruise in order to see color on the Hudson. Excursions - The excursions were fee-based, but the fees were reasonable. I thoroughly enjoyed the Lyndhurst Mansion, FDR's Hyde Park home and Presidential Library, Thomas Cole home, Olana, West Point, and the Albany ...

Decent cruise but lacking a few things.....

Review for a South America Cruise on Aria Amazon

We were very excited to go on this 5 day 4 night cruise down the Amazon River. We were VERY disappointed to realize we were not really on the Amazon on this cruise but instead on a river that is an offshoot off of the Amazon. We spent $20,000 for the 5 days for the 4 of us so we had high expectations of luxury. The boat was so magical looking when we arrived late in the evening from hours of a ...

An Intimate Amazon Experience

Review for a South America Cruise on Aria Amazon

The first question is, "take a 3, 4 or 7 day excursion"? If my count is correct, the 4 day trip has one more outing on the skiff than the 3 day excursion. The 3 day trip explores one of the two rivers that officially form the Amazon. The 4 day trip explores the other river. In both you will do virtually the same, see wildlife from the skiff, hike thru the jungle, visit a village, its school and ...
