Panama Canal 2018 Island Princess

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Island Princess

We chose this cruise because of the itinerary, and Princess is our go to cruise line. Our cabin was standard Princess, small and efficient with a tiny bathroom and shower. The crew was great and helpful. They seemed like a happy crew. We think the entertainment was very good compared to our past cruises on Princess. There were some very talented singers and dancers. The food was uneven; ...

A Tad Better Than Norwegian but That's Not a Compliment

Why we chose this Cruise: We selected this journey because we wanted to go through the Panama Canal during the winter time to avoid the cold weather. Our travel agent recommended the Island Princess to facilitate our vacation. The trip started out terrific. The flight to Ft Lauderdale, the transportation from the airport to the Hilton, and transportation from Hilton to the ship for boarding was ...

Great Itinerary To Explore a Must See Destination

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Island Princess

Crossing the Panama Canal was one of our "must see" destinations. While many cruise lines offer this as an option, few offer this in depth voyage from ocean to ocean. We selected this Island Princess cruise because it was nicely priced and featured several ports that we wanted to visit. By the time we disembarked in San Francisco we were satisfied with our choice. We have done various cruise ...

Island Princess Was Disappointing

We found the ship to be older than what we expected from the 2016 refurb. Dining in the main "anytime" dining was not a great experience. The food was cold by the time it was served. The portions were lacking and we had to ask for more each time we ate there. We enjoyed the buffet on Lido more than the main dining room. Entertainment was not as good as expected. One the 15 day cruise they ...

Not Princess we are accustomed to

Chose itinerary for Panama Canal but too many other ports require tenders. No international cafe. New meal schedule of 7:30 dining hard to get adjusted to. All suites have tubs but grout not maintained and required extensive cleaning during cruise. Many crew do not have good command of English. Excellent port itinerary presentation. Most excursions require long (1hour) rides from port. Poor safety ...

Great time in the canal

I had sailed the Panama Cruise before and this is the first time I was able to go to Panama City. Also wanted to see the new canal and the itinerary included other ports that have not visited in many years. Loved the destination port San Francisco. I am not a fan of the mega ships and love the size of the Island Princess. It is starting to show it’s age a little bit but would sail on it again. ...

Panama Canal bucket list cruise

We selected this cruise, because crossing the Panama Canal has always been a "bucket list" cruise for me. I can now cross off another item on that list. This cruise was very good, to excellent in most respects: Our cabin was clean and comfortable, although a little small, particularly the bathroom and shower. Food: overall very good in both the Horizon Cafe, and Provence dining ...

Nice ship...needs refurbishing

The ship is nice, as it's one of the smaller Princess ships. However, the ship does not have an International Cafe, which limits your dining choices to the dining room, the buffet (Horizon Court), or the specialty restaurants. The specialty restaurants have increased their pricing to $29.00 per person. Further, the dining room has removed several items from its offering menu; instead, including ...

Amazing Cruise to the Panama Canal

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Coral Princess

My wife and I chose the Coral Princess for several reasons: the itinerary allowed us to travel round trip from Southern California, home for us; We had sailed on her sister ship, the Island Princess twice before and enjoyed the ship's size and layout; and we wanted to sail through the historic locks of the Canal before experiencing the new locks. Two highlights of the trip to us were the ...

Better than I expected. Princess entertainment beats all the other cruiselines.

Coral Princess cruise was not crowded, very spacious with lots of seating. The entertainment for all 19 nights was fantastic with the exception of two nights - flamingo dances & one comedian. I usually find production shows with tons of dancing very boring however, their production shows looked like Broadway with wonderful singing. Pleasantly surprised! I wish they had more lectures other than ...
