Review for a South America Cruise on Emerald Princess

We wanted to go to South America and Princess provided the best value for us. We took the opportunity to go to Iguazu Falls and Colonia del Sacramento from Buenos Aires before the cruise as well as exploring Buenos Aires itself. Iguazu Falls are spectacular, but not an inexpensive side trip. Colonia was interesting and pleasant via Buquebus, but probably more expensive than it was worth. For us, a ...

We chose this cruise as it began the day I retired, and it was a 30 day South America cruise on the Emerald Princess. It included the opportunity to take an excursion to Machu Picchu (two nights off the ship). We embarked in Buenos Aires after a redeye flight. It was a painful 5 hours from airport to ship, but largely not Princess's fault. Immigration was a long slow wait, followed by a ...

Very good 30 day cruise in South America!

We spent a few days in Buenos Aires prior to embarkation. The city was worth a visit and we felt safe in the Recoleta area where our hotel was located. The weather was warm and sunny. On embarkation day, we received our room cards and surrendered our passports. The lineups at the terminal moved quickly, and we found our stateroom right away. Our luggage was delivered to our room mid ...

Embarkation was very smooth and organized. We did not have much wait time. The ship was beautifully arranged. Easy to find our way around. The Itinerary was great. Many ports of call as well as two sea days observing the Glaciers. We had up close view of them We had anytime dining giving us the opportunity to meet variety of people. The showroom seemed to be a bit small for amount of ...

Long review but lots to say !! Fourth time with Princess, second time on this ship. I have always rated Princess as the best cruiseline we have sailed with but not this time, they have gone downhill I’m afraid. EMBARKATION The chaos started here with no cruise cards for us. There was actually cards with our cabin number but they had different names on it ! After a lot of miscommunication ...

Enjoyed our cruise, but Princess could have done better

We would recommend this cruise, but thought the quality of the entertainment and on board experience was a lesser quality than our Princess cruise of about 5 years ago. Paul the cruise director was upbeat, funny, energetic and overall great at his job. His staff while seemingly all nice folks lacked enthusiasm, charisma and organization in their roles. We went to the main showroom almost every ...

We chose the cruise for the itinerary and it didn’t disappoint. The ports of call were all terrific, lots of options to explore and the scenic cruising to Cape Horn, along the Beagle Channel, and through the fjords of Chile was gorgeous. The King Penguins in the Falkland Islands were an absolute highlight. But the ship experience itself wasn’t a highlight. The food was mediocre, the dining ...

We arrived from Canada on Monday & enjoyed a great hotel in Palmero, Buenos Aries which allowed us to explore the city prior to Sail Away on Thursday. We are Platinum Members and have priority embarkation which did not happen - none was set up - I don't know why & that was disappointing. Long one lineups which normally we don't have to deal with. This was our first balcony which was a real ...

A truly wonderful trip

We were very happy with most aspects of this cruise - Buenos Aires to San Antonio. Most fellow passengers we spoke with also loved. We met 2 or 3 nit pickers but our attitude is if you want perfection, then pay for a higher end cruise line. Great ports of call, particularly the Falkland Islands. The onboard lectures were very good as were the Spanish language classes. We enjoyed the ...

Chose the cruise for its itinerary. Spent 2 days in BA prior to embarkation. Worthwhile to see BA. Embarkation process could have been smoother. Personnel lacked proficiency with the English language as well as familiarity with the process. Disembarkation much better in San Antonio-however the port is very industrial and there is NOTHING to see/do in this very economically depressed city. Have to ...
