Our First Cruise

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Spirit

First Time Cruiser • Age 80s

This NCL Spirit Cruise was chosen as our first cruise. We wanted to get from Guadalajara Mexico to Paris France without any prolonged flights. Based upon cost, convenience and enjoyment, a cruise seemed to be the best way to get to Europe. The NCL Spirit is a good ship, well and efficiently crewed. Our first experience by an large will result in more cruises, with NCL remaining at the top of ...

The ship is showing her age and the furniture in the cabin including the carpet looked very tired, nothing like the picture on the web site sadly. The bed was very comfortable and a good size. The cabin steward was excellent, the shower toilet and wash area very good in size and plenty of towels. The food was good although the choice limited in the buffet restaurant.Coffee readily available from ...

I just returned from the Spirit (NCL) from April 16th-April 23rd, we arrived a day early and stayed at the Laquinta Inn. The embark to the ship went smoothly and the Travel advisers were very helpful to guide us to the ship. Let me start by saying I chose this ship for the itinerary but 3 out of the 4 stops I have never been to. So I went on this cruise knowing that this was a old ship so I knew ...

Small ship experience; would be good for a first time cruiser.

First things first. As you may have heard before - a cruise is what you make it - I believe that anyone can get on any ship and with the right attitude can have a good time. I just got off of the Norwegian Spirit and, because I went in with an open mind and a positive attitude, I had a good time. If you approach a cruise looking for things that are wrong, searching for fault, you will NOT have a ...

Not all that we had hoped for, based on past cruises.

we have been on 2 other cruises in the past and we were a little disappointed with this one, although we still had a good time...after all, we sailed to the Caribbean. It began when we were booking the cruise, we discovered a couple of surprises like the price advertised was not accurate, yet they were still promoting the false price online even though you couldn't get it. The website also said ...

I want to start by saying that I cruised on the Spirit 2 years ago in the Mediterranean and loved the ship so much I wanted to cruise again in the Caribbean. I specifically chose this cruise because I was so impressed with everything about the ship. I'm not sure what has happened over the last two years but I couldn't believe I was on the same ship. The food was not up to par. The meals we were ...

Spirit brought back old memories of 04 + 05 and for the most part we enjoyed it, The ship needs some work ( due in January 2017 i was told) new mattresses, capability for my wife to plug in her hairdryer etc. Most of the ports we have been to several times so they are getting old ( no fault of the Spirit) The crew and officers were awesome, big shout out to Martin the dinning room mgr. ...

We did a 7-night cruise on Spirit to Key West, Florida; Georgetown, Grand Cayman; Ocho Rios, Jamaica; and Stirrup Cay, Bahamas. The ports were great but the ship was lacking. We have been on nine cruises with Royal Caribbean and Celebrity but this was our first on Norwegian and although we knew that the Freestyle Cruising on NCL was different than what we were used to on Royal Caribbean and ...

Visited Key West, George Town, Grand Cayman, Ochee Rios, Jamaica and Great Stirrup (but didn't dock as the weather was bad) This is our second cruise but our first with Norwegian Spirit. The first 3 nights at the Windows Main dining room was not organised as it was not the usual planned meal times. You could eat whenever you wanted. However, most of the 2000 people wanted to eat at the same ...

Just OK, Nothing Great

Just got back from cruising with my family on a 7 night eastern Caribbean cruise. The NCL spirit was nicer then we were expecting, but the service was not nearly as good as we got on either celebrity or royal Caribbean. The activities on the ship were limited and the shows were just OK. Our kids liked the clubs which was a really big thing. There was not many young children on the ship, most of ...
