Things are improving!
"If you want almond or soy milk for your coffee after dinner in the main dining room, ask at the *start* of the meal when ordering; baffling but no matter how many people order it they never keep it on hand and have to send a waiter to the Lido or up to the cafe on 11 to get it every time. For the dairy-intolerant, know they carry almond and soy milk both -- but they ran out of it a day before the end of the first 7 days, and somehow didn't restock for the next 7 days...."Read More

Excellent food, cabin & service. Awful, Awful internet

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Nieuw Amsterdam

We're past HA Cruisers. We have 15+ cruises that we've enjoyed. Everything was really good about his cruise except 3 things. 1. The boarding process was a cattle car. 1500 or so people stuck in a terminal in Ft. Lauderdale with room for 800 to sit. And it took forever to get all the groups aboard. 2. The internet speed. 3. The internet being down far too often. This is 2023, not 1999. ...

This was our 20th anniversary cruise, and we did back-to-back 7 day cruises (western/eastern Caribbean). We are 3-star Mariners on HAL, and this was our 3rd trip since Covid hit. Compared to the last two post-covid trips, this was a good improvement. We started getting towel animals again (a simple add but delightful), they had some fresh flowers on board (prior two cruises they were mostly ...

This was our 12th cruise but the first in 10 years. 4 previous cruises on HAL. It began somewhat ominously. Check in took forever because they reassigned us to a different cabin-same category (Signature suite) but a deck lower at the very front of the ship with a handicap accessible bathroom that only had one sink. We were told our original cabin (SS mid ship) had a technical issue that could not ...

This is the 3rd cruise to the Caribbean with Holland America for my wife and I, the 2nd cruise on the NA We chose the NA over the NS as it has less passengers We stayed in a verandah cabin (4138) and since we do a lot of walking it was very convenient to the promenade deck being one floor up from the deck 3 promenade. The cabin was also on the port side more mid stern We heard very little ...

WORST ACCESSIBLE CABIN EVER!!!

This review is about the Holland America Nieuw Amsterdam Cabin 6001 which is a handicap accessible verandah stateroom. First let me say that this was my 84th cruise so I do have some knowledge of cruises and different lines. WITHOUT QUESTION THIS IS A VERY UNFRIENDLY CABIN FOR DISABLED PERSONS. Location is terrible for any individual using a manual wheelchair as it is the very front of the ...

My wife and I enjoyed the cruise. Booked another on the cruise. The food was very enjoyable. We dined mostly in the Lido but twice in the MDR. Wish the food was labeled. Liked that it was served by staff which seemed much more sanitary. The happy hours where a good value. Staff was friendly. We really liked the service from our room steward Ichsan. He was very pleasant and did an ...

This was our first cruise on HAL. We typically cruise on Norwegian or Royal Caribbean but got an outstanding deal on this cruise so we decided to give HAL a try. I would say that overall we really enjoyed the cruise and felt that it was a very good experience for the price. There were some things that I felt exceeded expectations and a few that feel a bit short of our desires. We knew ...

My wife and I (71) booked this Caribbean cruise this past June while travelling on a 14 day Holland America Westerdam cruise from Seattle to Alaska. We always book a Interior Cabin. Embarkation at Port Everglades (Ft. Lauderdale) was superb in every way. Arrived at 11:00 by parking shuttle and were on board by noon and it was extremely easy with minimal waiting and friendly staff. Luggage ...

This was a charter, Malt Shop Memories, my 4th one. It's a 7d cruise, you go on for the entertainment. It's very pricey, you hope to meet the stars, singers etc. The surprise is how inaccessible The Beach Boys & Smokey were, & how good/friendly the back up bands/acts were. Brooklyn Bridge (Jimmy Rosica :D) , Zmed Brothers/Everly tribute artists (wow!), Joey Dee (yay), Chris Montez, Sounds of ...
