17-Day Easter Island Oceania Cruise

Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Marina

The food was superb, especially the specialty restaurants. Most of the service was courteous and efficient. Only toward the end of the cruise did the food servicers' attention diminish. The cruise stated Tahiti and Easter Island as ports. We were unable to see any of Papeete because of the scheduling of the flights into Papeete. The first day on the itinerary was the arrival day. The ...

My Biggest Travel Disappointment!

This cruise was to see islands in French Polynesia and travel to Lima via Easter Island. I had wanted to go to Easter Island since college- fifty plus years. This seemed to be a great way to visit. The ship was to be there two days. It was a beautiful sunny day but windy on arrival. The captain said the sea was too choppy for tenders. We circumnavigated the island with some things being pointed ...

Our sailing from Papeete to Lima was our 5th cruise with Oceania but our 1st on a larger O class ship. The ship was beautiful and as usual Oceania met our top three criteria with their wonderful crew, excellent cuisine and a super comfortable bed. We also enjoyed having a greater choice of specialty restaurants and had a fantastic dinner at La Reserve. You have to pay extra for La Reserve, but it ...

First Time on Marina

My husband and I really enjoyed the Marina because they take such good care of their passengers. I wish we would have arrived in Papeete a day earlier to see that city but didn't want to pay the extra Air Deviation fee. Embarkation in Papeete and disembarkation in Lima, Peru was extremely well organized and went very smoothly. The cabins are quite comfortable and the bathroom is by far the ...

Our friends recommended we take this trip. We did the 10 day trip around the Tahitian Islands aboard the Marina. We upgraded to a Penthouse Room and we did fully enjoy the experience of our own butler and the executive lounge. The Penthouse experience includes daily appetizers delivered to your room between 5-6 p.m. It was a very pleasant way to ease into the evening. We really enjoyed our ...

We are in our mid 60's and have sailed 7 times in last 7 years. After 2 cruises on Celebrity Millenium ships we decided to go upscale and try Oceania Marina in 2011. One month prior to sailing, we were offered and accepted a bargain upgrade from concierge to penthouse level. We were hooked and have booked penthouse ever since. First 3 cruises on Marina were excellent. Cruise on Riviera (Miami to ...

I am a fan of Oceania, having travelled on a few of their ships. I find the cruise line perfect for us, not to big just the right amount of quests on board. We found the ship clean, comfortable and the food excellent, the quality and variation excellent, especially Jacques and Red Ginger. One complaint I have is with the lounge chairs around the pool. It never ceases to amaze me how ...

We are not huge cruise people but have done Celebraty X to Galapagos, Silver Seas to Antartica and this one. Food in large restaurant was a solid B, tho they rushed you through to get you out. Two other restaurants, don't bother, over promise under deliver Cabins an A- because our sofa was worn out and collapsed Service in cabin was good but lacked detail with our butler. Deck ...

Sailing the South Pacific on Paul Gauguin

This was our first time on the Paul Gauguin, although we have sailed on over 30 other ships. We chose this itinerary specifically because it added Tonga and Fiji on to the typical French Polynesia route. Overall, we enjoyed our trip very much. There is a lot to like about the Paul Gauguin: intimate size, very good food, nice cabins, friendly staff, etc. There are three dinner restaurants, all ...

Excellent Service but Overpriced

Review for a South Pacific Cruise on Paul Gauguin

We've travelled on other cruise lines and ships so this review is relative to those cruises. The price we paid was more than twice as much as we have paid on other lines for similar accommodation. The cabins and balconies are no bigger but the food however was better and the service impeccable. There are lots of staff and they go out of their way to help you, for example, taking buffet plates out ...
