We booked our cruise after reading a promotional flyer in July 2013. The next two years we spent following the progress of the ship's being built and tested. This to say that, as seasoned travelers who had never taken a cruise and who live in Europe, we were very much anticipating this different adventure. We were not disappointed. Since we handled all our arrangements in terms of arrival and ...

The ship was wonderful and the weather cooperated. The food was marvelous and the daily selections of wine were delicious. The trivia games were fun. The only bad thing was that there was no bridge on board. We tried and could never find partners. It was a disappointment. The shore excursions were fun and even the cobblestones were ok. ...

The Viking Star is a brand new ship and it is very nice. With a few tweaks it could've been great. The room was adequate in size but the walls were not sound proof and we had to call front desk to get our neighbor to turn down his TV so we could sleep. I loved the large bubbly pool in the spa area and the sauna and steam room(when it was working) were nice. The snow room was fun to look at ...

Nice ship; great public areas; very warm and welcoming. Great exercise room. Nicely appointed. Comparing cabin service with other guests on the same cruise, I conclude that service was uneven and mixed. Dining room service was also very mixed. Experienced waiters and waitresses were great; less experienced need training and supervision; a couple were quite arrogant. Process for getting a ...

The Viking Star is a fantastic ship! Truly enjoyed the Chef's Table and Manfredi's restaurants. The soups and desserts were wonderful. Several jokes as I was the only male in a group of 6. There was different regional fare available at each dinner. Many were great. Went to several afternoon teas and truly enjoyed them. Room service was exceptional. The design location of the room closet ...

We enjoyed our cruise from Bergen to Kirkenes very much. We did not opt for an upgraded cabin. The standard cabin was fine for sleeping and showering. We did opt for a window. We were on the port side, and my spouse could hear noise when the shipped docked and left at night. The scenery is great and changes constantly and there is a lot to see from either side of the ship. The food was a ...

Just finished the Vikings homeland tour. All Scandinavian countries plus St Petersburg,Estonia,Berlin,Poland. Ambitious itinerary. Likes. Small ship felt bigger because no space set aside for a Casino and lacked the annoying photographers and space given to picture display that are ubiquitous on cruises. Entertainment was adequate for a ship this size but production shows were standing ...

My mother and I traveled to Bergen end of May 2015 and took the MS Midnatsol up to Kirkenes for a seven day voyage. It was on my mothers bucket list (she is 80, I am 46). I did plenty of research ahead of time and had a pretty good idea of what to expect. Starting with embarking that was a long process.. We got there early and waited over two hours. A little disappointing but oh well. From ...

We had a cabin on the 5th deck, which had a large, unobstructed window. Though there's a walking path all around the 5th deck, no one can see in - we checked that out. The room was small but comfortable and extremely well laid out. Plenty of room for everything, including storage for our big suitcases. Showers have plenty of hot water but if you are a very large person, it would be a tight ...

Viking Star Cruise departure May 16th from Bergen, Norway Taking the Viking Star Cruise was a trip of a life time for us. We are not people who constantly cruise and looked forward to this cruise since we booked it in August of 2013. We had previously taken the Viking river cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam in June of 2013 and enjoyed the atmosphere of a small ship with 120 fellow ...
