This was starting port for our itinerary. We spent 3 nights in town before boarding ship. Bergen is easy town to get around in. Highlights was the Ulriken cable car to tallest mountain in Bergen. Also did the Fjord cruise. Food scene is great but be prepared to have to make dinner reservations. ...

We had great weather (for Bergen, at least). We did a fjord cruise that we booked independently, and the rain stopped for most of the time we were there. Had some local fish at a dockside restaurant. ...

Bergen was beautiful with lots of things to do. Two suggestions, Fly into Bergen ,it was the most spectacular sight of the fjords I have ever seen. Also Bergen is quite loud in the late evening when the bars close between 2 and 3. Maybe if you are on a pre cruise ...

Excellent port but the ship was only there from 7 to 1. There wasn’t enough time. We went on the funicular, booked on our own. We also visited the museum of the resistance movement in WW2, Bergenhus Fortress Museum (free). We walked through the fish market and old Bryggen. We shopped and ate a reindeer sausage. There is a free shuttle to the center of town, but we walked (about 30 minutes or so). ...

We toured Bergen on our own without doing an excursion. We could walk from the ship to the fish market in 15-20 minutes or so, quite easily. The warehouse shops of Bryggen were just across the harbour. From the fish market you could see the station for the funicular up the mountain, so we did that. I had prepaid online for my tickets and we just walked right up to the gate and scanned our ticket, ...
