Chose this cruise as a short getaway with no flying involved. New Medallion system made embarkation very fast and efficient. The Royal staff was as always very friendly and attentive.

The Royal is a nice ship, everything worked - not always true on some of the older ships. But the MedallionNet systemm they hyped so much was very spotty, worked some times and not others. With no enclosed pool on the Royal the pool and the Movies Under the Stars were unused for most of the cruise as it was too cold.

Food was very good, food service wonderful (except the first night things seemed very slow). The Horizon buffet breakfast was pretty standard but the evening buffet had a different theme every night -very good.

Mini-Suite with Balcony

Our first time in a mini-suite. The extra size was much appreciated and the larger shower - wow!
