This was a good cruise. We have done six on Celebrity and I would say this one certainly met or exceeded the standard set by our previous cruises. The crew were outstanding, wait staff, cabin attendants, bar staff, customer service, the lot.
The embarkation process at Amsterdam was excellent; a significant improvement over last year's Baltic experience.
We ate in the main dining room, the Tuscan Grille, Qsine and Murano. The food in the main dining room tends to be on the bland side, not everyone likes curry, but we found it to be generally good to very good. Now if you want to push the gastronomic envelope, try any one of the specialty restaurants. The steak I had in the Tuscan Grille was as good as any I have ever had and both the wife and i had venison in Murano and it was superb. One must remember this is Celebrity not Seabourne or Regent and if you want to pay their prices I am sure the experience will be different.
As for the Tattoo, it was worth getting wet. In 137 years they have never cancelled or postponed a performance. We came prepared and in fact it did rain hard towards the end and during our walk to our bus. Edinburgh is a tender port. Get used to it! In fact Celebrity moved the tender area closer to the city centre. The original location was upstream of the Forth bridge. When we arrived at the tender area there was a tent to keep the rain off but not everyone could be accommodated. Of the 3000+ passengers, something like 2000 of them had gone ashore and so the waiting time was long. We would do it all again given the chance as the Tattoo itself is a unique experience.
We had private tours at every port and they were all excellent.
In closing, I can truthfully say we had a good time and those we travelled with agreed. Your mileage may vary.
