Currently still on the ship heading to our final destination. This was a very interesting cruise. The weather was a bit cool and we only had one rainy day in Stockholm - not a cruise for laying in the sun. Having multiple sea days allowed for relaxation as well.

The ship overall is in good condition. Didn't see anything that was neglected. Found the ship to have very pleasant public areas. I did do some window shopping and found the store clerks to be very pleasant and helpful.

We had the Royal Suite (RS) which frankly made the cruise very special. We usually prefer a Viking Ocean size ship. So we were apprehensive regarding the size of the Silhouette, however, the RS amenities allowed for us to enjoy many things geared for a smaller subset of guests. The RS provides for separate dining in Luminae. We were also able to dine in any specialty restaurants without charge. We tried every specialty restaurant, the Ocean View Cafe, Blu, and found them all enjoyable. This is one perk about being on this ship...over the 12 day cruise, we did not become bored of the food options. Every restaurant manager, host, and waiter was attentive and very focused on making every meal a pleasant and enjoyable experience. On some mornings the Luminae was a bit slow with preparing breakfast (would recommend avoiding for a last minute breakfast before leaving for an excursion) and sometimes when I would pass through the Ocean View café, I thought the crowded dining room was a bit chaotic - so we never dined there for dinner just early breakfasts or a late lunch after returning to the ship on an excursion day. Room service was timely and no complaints there either. Really no complaints regarding the food...but again I was not dining in the Main Dining Room or the Ocean View Café on a daily basis.

Royal Suite

The Royal Suite benefits made the cruise very special for us. This is a much larger ship than we normally cruise on and the royal suite allowed us to retreat to a beautiful suite when we wanted to relax and hide from the crowded public areas. It is spacious with a dining area, living room (with sleeper sofa), huge master bath, half bath, and separate sleeping area. Overall, it was nicely appointed and in good condition. We loved it and felt very fortunate to have so much square footage.

The only issues with this particular suite is that it is under crew storage areas by the pool. We did occasionally hear carts rolling above the suite. Also, there was a problem with a slamming door that shook our room a bit. Again I think it was the crew area door on deck 12 or 14. At one point I had to complain because the slamming noise was very disturbing for three afternoons. It was addressed at that point.

Lastly, it is located near the smoking section. So sitting on the balcony I often smelled cigarettes or a stale smoke smell. Not sure why this level of suite was located by both the crew area and the smoking areas. Not a deal breaker...but just be aware that it may be a minor issue.

Walked into town on our own. Charming little city.
