We traveled on the Carnival Sunshine September 24-October 1, 2016. It was our first Carnival Cruise, and it will be our last. The ship is very old and outdated. We had a spa balcony room, and it was tiny, tiny, tiny. The color scheme in the room, bright yellow and bright turquoise, was hideous. We hardly ever saw our room steward, so we did not tip him, which led to him turning the water off to our toilet each night, so in the morning we couldn't flush the toilet and we had to call him to turn the water back on. Infuriating. Also, the heater in the room did not work, so we were always cold. Our steward told us there was no heater. What's up with that? It was a New England cruise, going up to Canada...and no heat??? Further, the food in the dining room was practically inedible. The steak didn't taste like steak, the prime rib was glorified pressed meat, the fish entree was so dry it was completely tasteless. In addition, it took us over an hour to get a glass of wine to enjoy with dinner. Ridiculous. We had purchased the beverage package ($700), and were informed when we got on the ship that the package didn't start until the next day...unbelievable. The only thing that saved us food-wise was the burgers at Guys Burger Joint...they were very good. The only other "plus" was Patrick in the Piano Bar. That guy is super talented and funny. All in all, a complete waste of time and money. You get what you pay for. Never again.
We loved New York. We had a great time walking around on our own.
We enjoyed Boston and the Freedom Trail.
Very pretty area. We rented a car and drove around. Got to see some fall colors.
Very pretty. We rented a car and drove to Peggy's Cove. Enjoyed the day.
