Watch for theft

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on Fridtjof Nansen

The price and ship quality were great. The cruise was very well managed and the expeditions (and expedition staff) were stellar. I did have a theft incident onboard from my bags when the ship was loaded and hurtigruten did little to either investigate or follow up on the report. I had 2 crew members tell me about how they were underpaid in a bid to obtain higher tips, but this also left me with ...

this was a once in a lifetime cruise to parts of the Word I doubt I will ever see again. the Covid situation ruined it if I had known how Hurtigruten were going to react I would not have gone i do feel a waste of time and money. the explanation and communication is very poor , the staff not all were very new and inexperienced. a main driver for me was the Falklands , we did not get there, ...

The expeition portion of the was excellent (going ashore), which only last about 60 to 90 minutes. The rest of your time became very boring!!!!!!! Going to the next day presentation was difficult, because the person attempting to speak English, used "ah" about every third word they spoke. We were on deck 5 (room 565), every morning you left your cabin, you had to smell burnt garlic, because the ...

Antarctica was on our bucket list for a long time. This was a beautiful and truly unspoiled nature. We loved Antarctica. The expedition was great but don’t book or plan to book the optional excursions unless you plan to be disappointed. When we made our initial booking we were told we could book the optional excursions until the sailing date. Called 2 weeks later to book and were told had ...

For me it was a once in a life time dream, which was especially dissapointing by the tour operator. I have choosen this tour with Hurtigruten because I made a very good experience on a two day tour in Norway. But as a tour operator for cruises it disappointed me nearly overall. A lot of promised things were not there. For example the underwater views on the big screen inside. There you only could ...

Going to Antarctica was top on our bucket list so we were expecting great things. The itinerary was excellent and the ship's crew were concerned at all times for our safety, which was excellent. The itinerary was good and we were excited to meet the penguins. At embarkation we should have had our medical forms taken off us as we checked in, however this was not done but we were asked to deliver ...

Marketed wrong

I knew this was first cruise of the season, but it was marketed to me as limited to 300-350 people. That made sense for an expedition cruise to Antarctica. Limitations on numbers of people on land at any time creates logistical issues. Add to that the early season, and it made sense to have a limitation. Unfortunately, Hurtigruten booked over 400 people on the ship. Made it into a shakedown ...

Smaller ships are better.

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on Fram

Buenos Aires to The Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctica. Long distances between landings makes for a very expensive cruise for not much time on shore. The cruise part was sub-par for food and service compared to "cruise" lines. The "expedition " part really focused on very expensive extra price options such as hikes, kayaking and polar boat cruising rather than free field trips to view ...
