On a cruise in January 2024 on the Nieuw Amsterdam. The ship was clean and our room stewards, Hendra & Eva, were attentive and kept our room clean and organized. While not top-notch, the food was pretty good. The chiefs were out and about making sure the serving staff was hoping and taking care of the guests.

As we were on our first cruise ever we chose the Niew Amsterdam because it is a mid-size ship. We spent a wonderful week. Embarkment and disembarkment went very smoothly and rapidly as a wheelchair was required for one of us. Easy process. No line!

The Eurodam is a stately, well-kept ship. We very much enjoyed its classic ambiance and lovely public spaces. Embarkation was quick and flawless. Hawaii was on our bucket list and we had the time for 16 days. HAL made it seem longer! This was cruise 17 for us. Third on HAL. No rookies here! On all the best lines e.g. Viking. We chose this cruise because we've enjoyed Holland America cruises in the past, and because the itinerary was what we were looking for.
Sadly, Holland America has declined sharply in recent years. This cruise was like staying in a second-rate Las Vegas hotel:
