I choose sailing on the QM2 (this was my 3rd voyage) because it is a civil and upscale voyage and if you want a peaceful journey with nice people, this is it. You are almost guaranteed no children on board because this is not a ship with children's attractions. I was on the July 1, 2018, cruise to Canada and Boston for the 4th of July Fireworks. We left out of Brooklyn, NY. The regular balcony ...
The Queen Mary 2 is a magnificent ship, our cabin and steward was wonderful. The late embarkation was quick and easy except that some ships elevators were not working, which was a common problem throughout the cruise.
The fifth level balcony cabin was great. The balcony is not much use unless in port or very carm seas. The signage to the mini bar was poor some things are free and some are ...
We were on the Queen Mary for a New England-Canada 14 day cruise on September 22-October 6th. We were in a princess suite cabin 10010. The first thing you need to know is that Cunard ships are definitely Class ships. That means that the better the cabin or suite the better the food and service you will receive.
The ship is big and beautiful. Of course it was just redone in May.
The points of ...
We Chose this ship as it is the only real option to sail transatlantic into New York. The cabin was fine but nothing outstanding. The cleanliness in the cabin was high. We dined in Britannia restaurant on early sitting which was too early for sailaways at Southampton and Halifax but the late one we had been told when booking was 9pm when in fact was 8.30pm. The food was just OK and on some nights ...
We wanted to experience their 'iconic' transatlantic crossing so we booked a back to back crossing. Had it not been for the experience of storm conditions, 15m waves and the unexpected rescue of a lone yachtsman the westbound crossing would have been a disappointment. There was nothing 'special' about the voyage at all. The food in Britannia was good but hadn't changed since our last QM2 voyage 4 ...
My 60th present too myself. A week on QM2. So excited. Room lovely and cabin crew and waitress in dining room lovely. Loved the fact that they had gentlemen dancers for the ladies to dance with in the Queens ballroom. However I felt so let down. It was mediocre. The food was O.K but not special,I've eaten better on P&O cruise ships. The entertainment was dismal. Pub quiz, talks about boring ...
I always wanted to sail from New York to Southampton. What better the the only liner.. the QM2. I was given a chance to upgrade to queens grill. Wonderful. This made the experience far better. Great dining in the queens grill restaurant..beautiful suite....but not 5 star.... in the restaurant at breakfast a waiter brought a platter of pastries and never came back to offer more, same at lunch ...
The food in the main dining room at times seemed to be partially spoiled and the portions were small enough that it appears they are trying to "force" passengers to use the extra cost alternative dining. The selection in the buffet was very limited with a big emphasis on pork and lamb with very little beef ever. The employees in the buffet area were very discourteous they would step out in front ...
This was a Fall Foliage Cruise (New England and Atlantic Provinces). We booked a cheap outside cabin. We had been on the QM2 on a transatlantic cruise years ago, before the recent remastering. We are reasonably agile and competent seniors. Normally we cruise much smaller ships. So much for background.
Now for the good, the bad and the ugly.
The good: QM2 is a wonderful, traditional ocean ...
Special birthday trip. Expected it to be a trip of a lifetime so disappointed with overall experience. First time cruise so selected Cunard believing it to be the best cruise line Discovered it is trading on past reputation. Carnival taking over Cunard is like the Co-op taking over Harrods !!
The ship is magnificent. Beautiful to the eye and simply magical feeling to be aboard. However we ...
