Special birthday trip. Expected it to be a trip of a lifetime so disappointed with overall experience. First time cruise so selected Cunard believing it to be the best cruise line Discovered it is trading on past reputation. Carnival taking over Cunard is like the Co-op taking over Harrods !!

The ship is magnificent. Beautiful to the eye and simply magical feeling to be aboard. However we discovered the remastering / refurbishment of the ship that had recently taken place had not been co pelted whilst the ship was in dry dock and many aspects of the work still going on whilst we were on board. We were disturbed by noise of workmen using grinding equipment on deck immediately above our room, we had dirty black water coming through our shower toilet and hand basin over two days. Despite Cunard making much publicity of the refurbishment we discovered the many areas of the ship had not been included and the spa facilities in particular remain out dated and were not maintained to a high standard whilst we were aboard. We found this unfair to the spa staff who provided a really good service and treatments despite poor working conditions and facilities.
