This was my second cruise with Costa. First one was with Smeralda . Check-in and access of the cabin worked well. Deck 2 insides. The journey from Copenhagen Danmark to Tarragona Spain went perfectly. The cabin was okey, interior grey but the bed was really good. The food is varied, the breakfast and lunch buffet is tasteless ,hot food is cold when you have found somewhere to sit. Restaurant ...

If you are English speaking and want to take shore excursions don't book a cruise in Europe with Costa, Due to the lack of Numbers of English-speaking passengers there are very few excursions that are available, but you don't know that until you are on board and in most cases, you are advised a day or two before. The tours that you may be able to go on are with a guide who speaks at least 2 ...

On September 23, having just disembarked from MSC Fantasia in Genoa, I took a taxi to Savona (the driver offered me a special price of EUR100) and embarked on Costa Fascinosa, a back-to-back cruise though changing ship. I had bought this second cruise last minute via internet while still on MSC Fantasia. What I got was nothing more than an Outside cabin without balcony that was still available, ...

Thoughts of an American on an Italian cruise line

My wife and I chose to cruise on Costa knowing full well that they are an Italian line that does not cater to English speakers because we wanted to have a more European experience. We embarked in Barcelona directly from the airport after an approximately hour drive around the city while out transfer company (Eros Bus) dropped off other passengers who were not going to the port. Barcelona is a ...

Great value but some issues

Review for a South America Cruise on Costa Fascinosa

We chose this cruise based on the ports of call and the price. We paid £1300 pp for a premium inside cabin and for a 19 night cruise this was amazing so you need to decide if you think that my negatives outweigh the positives (overall probably not but they may put us off Costa in the future). Included in the price: we flew to Lisbon, stayed 1 night B&B in an OK hotel and then had a full day in ...

Less Of What I Had Heard Of

It wasn't what I had heard of and what I had expected. In the pool areas there was no control, and organisation. To go in the spa, you had to wait a long time because the people stayed in there for about an 1 hour, and children would occupy the spa and they weren't allowed to go in. At Palma we paid for the shuttle bus, and because weather they suspended the service and we didn't use it after we ...

The ship is very big. Getting around took some time but slowly we learned where we were going. Embarkation was a breeze. We each had forgotten we had a bottle of something in both checked bags and carry on which was completely ignored. Once onboard the English speaking guests were sequestered for our safety briefing. I was a little worried there were so few of us. I later learned that of the 3000 ...

Overall a nice experience

Firstly the ship is huge and it took nearly a week to navigate our way around it.There were a lot of good things ans some not so good. With size you get variety but you also get crowds, there were certain times of the day particularly between evening meal sittings when this could be overwhelming and also at times in the vast buffet restaurant. At the formal evening restaurant the food was ...

Cannot reach Costa by phone on weekends - causes big problems

We chose a Costa cruise because of our very positive experience with them 8 years ago. We have done 9 or 10 cruises with different companies including Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, and Holland-America. We knew in advance that there would be few fellow Americans on the ship, that Italian would be the main language, followed by German, Spanish, French, and all the rest. The Fascinosa is a ...

Review for a Greece Cruise on Costa Fascinosa

We decided to fly to Venice a day before our flight because we had heard that Marco Polo airport is sometimes fogged in and we did not want to miss embarkation of the Costa Fascinosa. The following day we did the usual trips around the canals on the Vaporettos or water taxis before heading to the cruise port with our cases to check in. Embarkation It had been foggy that morning but was clearing ...
