There are enough reviews that detail the physical aspects of this cruise ship so I'll cut straight to the essentials.
The very good bits were: attitude and attentiveness of staff, particularly our cabin steward and our dining room staff. Almost all other staff seemed to be pleased to be doing their jobs and smiles were easy to come by. Entertainment was usually of a high standard. Beds were very ...
Embarkation was well organized and we boarded fairly quickly with a minimum of confusion. Service was excellent throughout the ship. All the crew worked hard to make sure we were well taken care of both in our cabin and in all the public areas we used. People were very friendly, both crew & other cruisers. We took 2 shore excursions with the ship and thought they were worth the extra cost. This ...
We had eagerly anticipated our cruise on Celebrity's Solstice following our first Celebrity cruise on Century in late 2011 (Hawaii to Sydney). Solstice presents beautifully and we found everything immaculate although we did feel that it lacked some of the personality of the older Century.
We took advantage of the offered early embarkation which was quite streamlined and we found ourselves ...
Our family of 5 ( 2 adults and three children aged 7, 10 and 11) had a very relaxing time. The kids loved their kids clubs and the activities were lots of fun. They enjoyed splashing round in the pool and spa. The Lawn club looked Ok but by the end of the cruise most of the grass was roped off. This area could probably be put to better use.
The highlight of the cruise was the outstanding food. ...
My husband and I sailed on the Celebrity Solstice from Auckland, NZ on January 28, 2013 for 18 nights. We disembarked in Perth on February 15th.
This was our first trip on a Solstice class ship....we sailed the Caribbean on the Century a few years ago, and the Panama Canal on the Infinity in Dec. 2010.
We were really happy with our stateroom, 9199, a 1B veranda cabin, especially the bathroom! ...
The Solstice is a beautiful ship, and although carrying about 3,000 passengers, rarely seemed crowded (the exception would be the buffet area). The stateroom (9286) was very comfortable and we loved the veranda. Every crew member we passed smiled and said hello or engaged us in other conversation. It was a very friendly ship (most of the passengers were that way, too).
Food in the ...
Embarkation - Great, no lines and we got upgraded to a suite from a concierge class cabin Ship - The Millennium is in need of maintenance. This can be a beautiful ship and will be once again after the renovations are complete. We were told the ship will be dry docked for two weeks before the Alaska cruise season and its a good thing. While not a disaster, the ship was not in the condition we all ...
BACKGROUND INFO: I'm a single traveller based in Auckland who loves to cruise. I was in need of a last minute holiday and the deal here was just too good to pass by. I've travelled a lot round NZ and have been to Australia many times so I wasn't too attracted by the ports of call - rather I was looking to have a relaxing holiday and enjoy the onboard experience.
EMBARKATION: This was extremely ...
