Overall, the cruise was nice, for those things that Carnival had control of. This is the second time I have left from Long Beach, and they have definitely improved the embarkment process. We were in and processed, and then directly boarded the boat, unlike a few years ago where we waited for a few hours, prior to boarding. The ocean was rough going to Hawaii, but a lot smoother coming back. I, ...
We knew the weather on sea days in December was iffy, and it was. Rough seas, high winds and clouds don’t make for great days at sea. It’s nice that they have a retractable roof on the Lido pool area. The Splendor is ready for a rehab. She’s showing some wear and tear. The crew was great! Carnival provided lots of activities for sea days with a nice variety. The food was good- if you like fish, ...
Everything was good except in the main dining room. Was nice to see tablecloths still there but I believe they are going away soon. There was no teamwork in our section of the dining room and was very stressful to watch. The dining rm was advertised at lunch as opened until 2:30 so when we arrived at 1:30 they were not very pleasant when we showed them it said 2:30 and they insisted that kitchen ...
An interesting cruise. Embarkation went very well and quick - very efficient.
Decor inside ship is very dark - if I had a choice I would paint all the dark brown areas a light off white colour. But it is what it is.
If you are a regular cruiser on RCL or Princess I believe you will be disappointed with Carnival - it is a step down.
The main complaint I have is that the food was of a ...
We wanted to visit Hawaii without a long flight over to the islands. This was a 15 day "Journeys" cruise out of Long Beach California. There were 4 sea days before the islands as well as 4 after. We enjoyed all the special activities that Carnival had planned for those sea days. There were dance lessons, including hula, island crafts classes, seminars, cooking demonstrations & too much more to ...
We spent our pre-cruise night at Best Western of Long Beach. The stay there was compliments of our travel agency, CompanionShips. There were many cruisers staying there as they provide free shuttle service to the port. Another thanks to CompanionShips for recognition of our 43rd wedding anniversary. The Dining Room staff sang and brought us a heart-shaped cake on the first Elegant Night! Very nice ...
We chose this cruise mainly for the itinerary and not wanting to fly all the way to Hawaii. We stayed on the Queen Mary the night before in Long Beach which was great. The port was well organized and we didn't have to wait long to board. We did have priority boarding because we had a suite. The ship is a bit dated and a little shabby but we really enjoyed the trip overall. We met some amazing ...
This was our first time on a Carnival Ship, having only sailed with P&O before. This was a relocation cruise with the ship heading to Australia for it's summer season and we joined the ship in Honolulu. Boarding was a breeze, very smooth indeed but our luggage took around 4 hours to reach our cabin. We took that time to locate friends and walk around and get a feel of the ship. The decor is a ...
We have wanted to do a Hawaiian. Getting on the ship in Vancouver was nice and easy. We sailed on time and always arrived to our port early. The ship itself is in need for refurbishment right away. It seems like it's overdue for one for about 2/3 years ago. The ship is unique and has its own beauty. I did live all the granite and marble just not all the vases or whatever they are supposed to be. ...
Been on the legend several times. Went to Hawaii from Vancouver. Was not impressed with all the walking to get on the ship. The ship it self is very easy to get around. The food could have been better but it wasn't bad. The cruise director is good she is very entertaining and the shows weren't bad either. There was a girl at customer service desk I think her name was Katherina, she only got on ...
