Transatlantic cruise

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Viking Star

I was apprehensive about so many sea days but I quickly fell into a relaxed mode and enjoyed the slow pace. Food was five stars every meal. Crew was above and beyond customer service! Plenty of places for solitude or activity with groups. Chef Gary did pop up lunches in the cafe several days and that was a treat. I’m never seen the head chef so engaging and he was delightful. The pool was tranquil ...

Viking Neptune Trans-Atlantic Cruise (Barcelona to FLL)

Based on our favorable impressions during a Spring 2022 Viking river cruise, we decided to use available cruise credit to try a Viking Ocean cruise. We specifically chose a trans-Atlantic crossing since this is something we had never done before. The cruise from Barcelona to Fort Lauderdale consisted of 10 full sea days with port calls in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria (Canary Islands) and St. Martin ...

Disappointing Transatlantic Crossing

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Gem

I chose this cruise because the were only 4 consecutive sea days. As soon as I booked it the itinerary change to 5 sea days. 3 days into the cruise it was changed to 6 consecutive days at sea. I understand things like weather come into play. You accept that when you book. You also expect that when you add days the cruise line would have some sort of activities to make up for the lost ports. This ...

Not as good as pre covid

Overall very enjoyable but we had a few little niggles . Despite the sailing being in December and ending only a week before Christmas day, the only decoration was a gingerbread village that appeared half way. Meanwhile we were seeing other ships in the fleet beautifully decorated on social media. Various items were unavailable, particularly the choice of sugar free soft drinks was Coke ...

A wonderful ocean crossing

I have cruised with Viking before; my new boyfriend has been a Seabourn cruiser. We chose this repositioning cruise because of the good price and the itinerary. I was not sure what to expect in the mid-Atlantic in December, but we enjoyed temperatures in the high 70s, clear skies and smooth seas. We had a very relaxing time. My boyfriend found the food to be better than he had expected; I enjoyed ...

Rather Disappointing

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Viking Sea

This was our second Viking Ocean (first was in 2019) , but we have been on Seabourn , Azamara and Regent, so at 900 guests , we consider this a "larger" ship. The guests were 90 % Americans , with only 36 Brits. Whilst the ship is impeccable, not a spot of dirt or rust anywhere , we were less happy with a couple of areas that are important for us, and felt these had deteriorated since ...

MSC Grand Maiden Voyage of the MSC Seascape

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on MSC Seascape

We chose this transatlantic cruise to avoid a long flight back to New York City. We had just disembarked the Costa Favolosa cruise (12 days) on 11/20/22. The night prior to the MSC sailing we stayed at the Hotel Granvia which is a repurposed mansion converted to a hotel. The hotel was beautiful, clean, reasonably priced and centrally located. We boarded the ship in Barcelona at 12:15 pm on ...

Beautiful Ship, Crew Goes Above & Beyond

I’ve sailed on MSC before and enjoyed my cruise, so I thought I would travel again, especially on a transatlantic cruise and the rate was inexpensive on a per day basis. Embarkation: It was seamless, with no long lines or waiting to board. No worries if you didn’t bring luggage tags, as they had them. Early Disembarkation: Other than the pastries and drinks, it was a little disorganized ...

Escape from MSC Seascape

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on MSC Seascape

The MSC SEASCAPE is a brand new ship and this was her first Atlantic crossing. I wanted to see what a 900 million dollar ship was like. I found out soon after boarding. This was my first MSC cruise and it will be my last. MSC has sacrificed quality for quantity . Way too many people creating noise and confusion just about everywhere on the ship - especially the restaurants where you end up ...

Not for Europeans

Unfortunately when we booked this cruise we were unaware that the passenger profile were primarily very conservative Brazilians, and as a gay couple felt very uncomfortable. Also all the entertainment was more focused on Brazil - which is ok if it was good, but it wasn't The cruise with all the extras cost us 1OK and we wish we had just flown to Rio direct The food on the cruise was also ...
