Booked this cruise with my wife who chickened out because she had come down with covid on our previous cruise (see Feb. 2023 Celebrity Edge review)-took our 17 year old brilliant grandson instead. I chose this particular cruise Lisbon-southern Spain, Morocco-because SilverSea Dawn excursions included Jewish historical and cultural sites as well as the more typical. Of course a brand new ship of ...
We traveled Lisbon to Lisbon for 21 days starting mid-October. We chose this cruise because it included many ports we had not visited previously. Unfortunately, they had to cancel two ports - Tangier and Casablanca - presumably due to the situation in the Mideast. But they substituted an extra night in Malaga and Lisbon, so that was fine. Since we have previously cruised with Seabourn, we were ...
First off, I can not understand the negative reviews about this ship, although one has to wonder about someone who complains about how to use a sink! The ship is great and exceeded our expectations. Butler service, bar service and restaurant service were all top notch. Staff were exceptionally friendly without exception. Tours were run well and left on time (a positive for me).
Beds and pillows ...
This was our second time sailing with Silversea. The first was last year on the Silver Moon which is Silver Dawn's twin sister.
The food on Silversea's is very upscale regardless of whether you do the standard dining options or pay for the premium restaurants. Our favorite was a premium restaurant called Kaiseki. It is a Japanese styled restaurant that serves sashimi's, different seafood ...
Celebrating a birthday and an anniversary. We knew that Silversea would enable a trouble free voyage. Our Butler and Maid decorated our suite for the birthday/anniversary celbration with clever towel art and balloons. Our fridge was constantly restocked with our favorite beverages. Our every need was cared for (including some seasickness tablets on the occasion that they were needed. The food was ...
We prefer to cruise back from Europe rather than flying. We have been on Silversea for only four years, but it is our "go-to" cruise line. This trip fit in with our earlier plans:
started with a week in Madrid in a rented apartment; then fly to Porto for an Ama Waterways cruise up and down the Douro River; then the high-speed train to Lisbon for a few days waiting to board the Whisper fro the ...
Everything from start to finish was a wonderful experience. This 12 day cruise from Lisbon to Greenwich terrific.
The ship was small and Intimate just over 600 passengers and elegantly decorated. Just the perfect size so that we felt pampered. The ship size allowed it to cruise down the Gironde right into Bordeaux and down the Thames into Greenwich.
The Classic Veranda Suite was large and ...
This cruise went to places that we had never visited before. Having Silverseas handle all the transportion made for a more relaxing trip. Our Cruise Director, Moss was one of the best we've had in over a dozen cruises. Our only dissappointment was the limited number of speakers and other onboard activities which we were told was becasue there were not sea days. Still think there should be more as ...
Having so much enjoyed the transatlantic crossing last year I decided to repeat the cruise this year. Although we again started in Lisbon and finished in Barbados, Silversea were sufficiently prescient to include 4 different ports of call out of the 7 visited (Madeira, La Gomera, St Lucia and Les Saintes).
I made my own flight arrangements (Business Class to Lisbon and BA First home from ...
Background Information:
My review describes the Silver Spirit on her 14 day transatlantic voyage from Lisbon to Bridgetown, Barbados, October 2010.
I flew from Sydney to Lisbon and had 4 nights at the Hotel Avenida Palace. This hotel is stunning. The public rooms have beautiful stained glass windows and magnificent chandeliers. My single room was a good size with 2 twin beds, a decent ...
