This is our 4th Silver Sea Cruise and we hope to do more. The advantage of a smaller ship is port availability, ambiance and service.
We departed from Seward, ended in Tokyo. 14 days of bliss. Only one glitch, the tail end of a typhoon (cat 3 tropical storm) prevented us from docking in Kushiro. Nothing Silver Sea could do about that. The crew were exceptional during our one day of high ...
We chose this cruise because of the less-traveled itinerary--the opportunity to see a few places the typical passenger wouldn't see, especially Dutch Harbor/Unalaska and Kamchatska. The length (14 days) was also attractive to us, and Silversea does a great job of providing excellent activities for the days at sea. I took bridge lessons and sharpened my game playing with other very experienced ...
I choose this trip because I have always wanted to see Alaska. December 2016, I cruised Silver Sea on the Silver Wind to the Caribbean. I fell in love with Silver Sea. This cruise was on the Silver Shadow and the next in 2018 will be on the Silver Whisper. Each ship is a little different but similar in the rooms etc. The ports they stop at are adventures you may never have taken before and ...
This was our second cruise with Silversea, and we had another wonderful experience. From our hotel pick-up in Vancouver to transfer to the ship, all the way through picking up our luggage in downtown Anchorage at the end of our voyage, everything was just about perfect. From getting to the cruise dock and leaving our tagged luggage with the porters, to being fully checked in and sitting down to ...
Our first cruise was in 2006, to Alaska, on the Silver Shadow. We decided, after having sailed on five of the ships on this line, to revisit both the Shadow and Alaska. We have just completed 196 days on Silversea, and will probably never sail on another cruise line.
As usual, service is impeccable and we are always amazed at the service, the friendliness of staff (many of whom remember us ...
This is our second trip on Silverseas.
I enjoy the intimacy of the small ship and first class service. This won't be our last cruise.
During the cruise, I attended the cooking class on board and it was fantastic along with High Tea and the many evenings of entertainment. The entertainment was outstanding. The voices of these young people were highly skilled. The theater was filled ...
We never thought we would enjoy cruising, but Silversea proved us wrong. When we decided to cruise Alaska, we chose Silversea because of the smaller size of the ship and recommendations of others. Embarkation and disembarkation worked like a well oiled machine: smooth and fast, perhaps a function of the smaller number of passengers. The ship was impeccably clean, our suite was exactly as pictured, ...
We chose Silversea because of the luxury and comfort we had to live in, while seeing the grandeur and beauty of nature in Alaska. To be able to venture out on some daring excursions, i.e., zip-lining and rafting, and come back to the relaxing magnificence of the cruise ship was perfect. The tours such as the whale watch were amazing and we learned quite a bit about wildlife in Alaska. The service ...
We chose this cruise because we wanted a small ship that could get in to the smaller areas of Alaska as well as not wanting a ship that we would need to share with 1,000 plus vacationers. With the exception of the excursions, everything else was included. A personal butler, all meals (including room service), drinks (and the wine flowed freely at dinner), self-serve laundry, and entertainment. ...
This was the first time in Alaska for our family of 15, and our first small-ship cruise. And, long story short, it was excellent.
Cabin
We all had Veranda Suites, which were very spacious and had a great amount of storage space (which was very much appreciated). The bathroom was quite large as well, and the same goes for the living area. The beds were of a normal size for a cruise ship ...
