Wonderful itinerary but the ship experience was so-so
"We went into this cruise having had the exact same experiences twice before, but thinking "it must just be this ship" or "Understaffed".We chose this itinerary and ship prior to deciding to change cruise lines, so went with it...."Read More

Disappointing food, great ship

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Symphony of the Seas

First the good: The ship is huge and awesome. Felt like we were in a large hotel. Minimal sway on the “rough days”. Room a Central Park balcony was clean and had plenty of storage. Zero wind and nice music in the evening from the band playing in Central Park. Some random things I really disliked in no particular order: Upon unpacking, our cabin steward told us they no longer ...

Far too noisy

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Symphony of the Seas

Chose this ship as we loved Oasis and other RCL cruises. This one however was torturous with the amount of noise around the pool decks from the really loud amplified music to the blaring screeching voice on the microphone. Even in Central Park 5 decks down we could not escape the noise and even the brass band could not be heard over the voice commentary from deck 15. The promenade deck had ...

Wonderful itinerary but the ship experience was so-so

We have been loyal Royal Caribbean guests for many years, and this was our 3rd post pandemic cruise with them. We chose this itinerary and ship prior to deciding to change cruise lines, so went with it. The itinerary was very good - all the highlights of the Western Mediterranean coast, plus Rome, and most of our time was spent off the ship as opposed to the Caribbean itineraries. Symphony is ...

What Happened to the Food?

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Symphony of the Seas

Just returned from the Symphony of the Seas transatlantic sailing – Miami to Barcelona. We cruise a lot, our third in six months but for whatever reason have not had occasion to cruise RCCL since 2014. Things have changed. FOOD What is going on with RCCL's food service? ALL the food - even in the specialty restaurants was of a noticeably lower quality than the ships we've been on recently ...

The world’s biggest ship offered an uneven experience

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Symphony of the Seas

A transatlantic cruise on a new ship, a very large one, without a lot of children on board seemed like a good idea. In many ways, it was a fine experience, except for dining. It is unclear to me how meals could be so bad, how service could be so sloppy to non existent to unconnected. There were lots of pluses on the ship. Entertainment was top notch, including a great production of the ...

Great ship and service. Food & departures not so much

We sail frequently mostly on Celebrity, are Elite+, and wanted a big ship with lots to do for our transatlantic crossing. Symphony of the Seas was amazing with lots of venues and activities. Btw/ We loved the newly designed cabin layout, colour palatte and spacious showe. The crew below Officers/Managers were friendly, engaging and often exceeded our expectations. Wonderful to ...

Like a Las Vegas Hotel not a cruise

I have cruised 4 times...3 with Royal. If your over 45 you will not like this ship as it is absolutely huge with line ups and long long walks for everything. There are charges also for everything but the air you breath! The cruise experience has been watered down too much. If your under 45 and very active you will love all the toys and the shows and music are excellent. Rooms are very ...

We chose this cruise for the ship. Having sailed Oasis and Allure before we were very much looking forward to this with our Children. Service was exceptional. MDR waiters were spot on and excellent with our two little girls keeping them entertained all week, food they liked at the table waiting for us when we got to dinner etc. Cannot fault them at all and one of the main benefits of choosing ...

Our travelling party of four adults (ages 78-70-69-66) previously enjoyed cruising on Allure of the Seas and Quantum of the Seas. While this is a magnificent ship It had a feeling of cramming and panic upselling of dining. The Rome boarding and disembarking processes were as good as we have experienced - very effficient and little time wasting. However, very shortly after boarding we were ...

Bad service and overcrowded beautiful ship

The ship is beutiful. The shows are great. Service is not good. Everything is overpriced and we got the feeling that the entire ship is designed just to shake as much money out of us, while providing the minimum possible. I got a coffee card with 15 cups. When returning to Barcelona i still had 6 cups on the card - but they refused to accept it! No coffee for you sir... service is only for ...
