Serenade 4/5/14 Key West and Bahamas

Review for a Bahamas Cruise on Serenade of the Seas

This cruise out of New Orleans was great. We visited the ports of Key West and Nassau (Coco Cay was cancelled). Embarkation was fast and easy. We were checked in and on the ship within 15 minutes of arriving at the port. Lunch in the Windjammer was excellent. Going out of New Orleans is an experience in itself. There was much to see along the river as we twisted and turned our way to the ...

We booked our twentieth anniversary cruise aboard the Serenade of the Seas out of New Orleans, LA. We chose this cruise because one of the three ports was Coco Cay and we had never been there before. We traveled to New Orleans (a five hour trip from home) the morning of Friday, April 18th. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Super dome, where we have stayed before cruises previously. There is covered ...

I could go into a lot of detail, but that would be a book.  Bottom line is, their web site is horrible, caused me to lose our stateroom, ended up paying $300 more per person just to go on this cruise. My time dining still requires a reservation, why bother if I still have to make a reservation, not something I want to have to worry about when I am on vacation. Good steak and ...

At first I wasn't too sure about doing the transatlantic cruise for our Honeymoon but my wife and I really did enjoy our time on the ship and at the ports. I will try and be as thorough as possible. Ship: yes the Serenade of the Seas isn't the latest and greatest but we found the ship to be very clean, spacious that included many different amentities. we especially enjoyed the movie cinema, under ...

We are mid 60's and retired. This was our 29th cruise. We are Diamond level on RCCL. We chose this cruise because we had never been to New Orleans and wanted to "experience" it prior to the cruise. Pre-Cruise: We booked this cruise 7 months prior to embarkation, and then had some difficulty booking a hotel room and flights, as it turned out to be WRESTLEMANIA weekend in New Orleans. Got room for ...

I know this was my first cruise and sure no expert but with all the research I did I don’t think I could have picked a better ship. It wasn’t a booze cruise or a kids cruise although they had both it wasn’t too hectic. The ship had glass everywhere which made it feel very open and having a refurbish job done on it made it feel like a new ship. The rooms were ok. We were more to the front which ...

Relaxing vacation on a beautiful ship

My husband and I and two teenaged daughters sailed on Serenade during our Spring Break, March 22-29. We had a great time and the Serenade is a really beautiful ship. I will try to break my review down into parts so I don't forget anything! Arrival/Embarkation: We arrived in New Orleans the day before departure and stayed at the Hilton Riverside on the edge of the French Quarter. We didn't realize ...

Our Serenade Cruise and NOLA!!! Fabulous Vacation!!

Here are my thoughts on our Serenade cruise out of NOLA, March 15-22, 2014. How did this trip come about? DH mentioned to me last year that he wanted to go to NOLA (long on our list of must-see cities,) and I said that would be great as long as we add a cruise, and thus a trip is born. We arrived one day pre-cruise and stayed at the Hilton Riverfront, which I booked on Last Minute Travel. We spent ...

I have lost count of cruises after my 45th one, but I know how to compare and what to expect. This was my first seven day cruise in a long time as we are now used to longer ones. Overall, it was outstanding. Hotel: We stayed at the Embassy Suites which is walking distance to the port (two long blocks). You can pull your luggage down the street and they will take it from you and put on the cart, ...

Bland Food. Short Ports. Missed Private Island.

Review for a Bahamas Cruise on Serenade of the Seas

I've cruised on Carnival and Celebrity in the past and thought RC's Serenade of the Seas was a couple of steps down from my other cruise experiences. The food was bland and usually overcooked, the port stops were way too short and we missed our private island stop entirely. According to the staff, they had been missing the stop for weeks on end. I wish I had done better research because I would ...
