Great Ports, So So Ship

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Grandeur of the Seas

We picked this ship because of the itinerary and loved the ports. However, the ship was average. Average food, entertainment, cruise director and activity staff. Another problem I had with this ship was that they put the ping pong tables so close to the smoking section of the deck. Who wants to smell smoke when they are playing ping pong? My teen sons loved the teen room. We booked ...

My family took the 9 night cruise up the NE into Canada out of Baltimore. Without airfare, it made the trip far more economical. We paid around $3,700 before our final tab at the gift shops, bar, gratuities. Gratuities really add up at $14.50/person/day. I don't debate they are deserved; just factor those in as you budget. I was on this ship in the late 90's and it's still the same. It's ...

Different itinerary that the usual Carribiean for a family vacation that was not over-the-top in cost. We had a nice time in the ports but these ports are more site-seeing than "fun activities" such as amusement rides (although one had zip lining) so the kids didn't have the greatest time doing that. I loved Halifax and Bar Harbor. Our day at Boston coincided with "Pride parade" so it was very ...

Adventure of the Seas ~ New ports of call ~ Frustrated with RCL

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Adventure of the Seas

Overall we enjoyed our cruise. The specialty restaurants were the highlight. Main dinning room food was terrible, cold, raw, poor quality, everyone was complaining. (Shocked to read positive dinning comments). Disappointed in our cabin selection, lovely large cabin but we are below the fog horn and it sounded every 2 minutes for 24 hours, it was horrible. Our room steward left dirty glasses in our ...

We choose this cruise because it was early June and we didn't want so many kids aboard. We enjoyed our cruise overall but there were issues. The food at the Windjammer was terrible, same things every day at lunch and breakfast! I mean, same fish, same dishes, day after day. The MDR had good dinners and we had Alicia as out waiter, she is wonderful! The assistant waiter was Romnick and he was ...

Explorer of the Seas all over again after 10 years.

Since we enjoyed the Explorer of the Seas some time back, we felt sure we would enjoy it's sister ship, the Adventure, and we did. However since we have sailed almost every cruise line in the non deluxe category, we feel that Royal reserves the better "upscale" treatment for it's Celebrity customers. On sea days, the Schooner Bar was jam packed for trivia games. The hall ways were often crowded ...

Dining room menu was the same every night. Order your dessert when you order your entree. Order everything all at one time. This does save on time. Food was just average, nothing special. Although the crew was very nice , some were persistant on making you buy Specialty meals in the Special Restaurants on board. They walk around and ask you over and over and some won't take no for an ...

Avoid Transatlantic Cruising with Royal Caribbean

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Navigator of the Seas

We chose this cruise as an alternative to flying out to our families in the US. We won’t do it again! The weather was too rough and cold to be out on deck during the winter, therefore 99% of passengers were inside for 95% of the waking time whilst at sea. The ship always felt crowded and bustling during the day (noisier and less relaxing than normal). Unfortunately Navigator appeared tired and ...

Have been on a few other different cruise lines. This was our first on Royal Caribbean. Our cabin steward was brilliant. He informed me that they, and a few other, direct customer facing employees are not paid at all by the cruise line. They rely on tips for their "wages". Ours was definitely worth his tips. Embarkation was very smooth - don't listen to those that say it wasn't. We bought ...

This was a cruise from southhampton to USA. The embarkation was poor at southamption as to waiting times which was due to the way the queues are organised. The arrival at Boston took a minimum standing time of two hours to get off ship with queues stretching more than double the length of the ship to go through US customs; customs were quick; therefore the delays are ...
