This cruise was really amazing, the staff was very friendly and always there to help with anything or answer any questions you have. The cabin was spacious and clean. The beds are very comfortable and we slept great every night. We just can't wait to go on our next adventure with them. The excursions were fun and there was lots of information given about all the spots we stopped at. The busses you ...

This was our second river cruise on American Cruise lines, but we had sailed many times before on large cruise ships to the Caribbean and Alaska. None of those ocean cruises could be considered even a close second to this last cruise on the Columbia and Snake Rivers. This ship has a capacity of 150 passengers; so much nicer than dealing with thousands of passengers. Disembarking and returning ...

This was our second cruise on the Columbia River between Oregon and Washington with ACL. The views and locks are spectacular and the pace is very relaxing. Each town visited has an interesting history and quaint personality. American Cruise Lines provides a fantastically safe environment for aging guests or for those travelling alone. The small ships ensure that you'll be able to meet and ...

Our cruise trip began with a night at the beautiful Historic Davenport hotel in Spokane Oregon. We boarded the American Empress in Lewiston WA. We visited Hells Canyon then Richland, The Dallas, Stevenson, Astoria and disembarked in Vancouver WA. The ship was lovely and food, service and entertainment were good. In each port we found interesting and/or scenic things to see and do - and ...

July 8-11: Pre-Cruise First: my wife (“The Missus”) and I had a taste of river cruising almost a decade ago, sailing up the Danube on Ama Waterways. We had a fabulous time. But it’s a PITA to get from the West Coast to Europe. We’ve been on over forty ocean cruises on various cruise lines. We had never sailed the byways of North America. This was our reason to try American Queen. Not so ...

We enjoyed enjoyed exploring the Columbia River Gorge. A riverboat is an excellent way to get to see this part of country. From other passengers that had been on American Cruise Lines I would hear consistently that they had good experiences on some of the companies other trips. However, anyone booking on this ship should be aware that this a very old and barely maintained boat. The boat is ...

In November I traveled with a small group of 10 on the American Empress steamboat-style Cruise. The group absolutely LOVED the trip and the ship! The food was incredible- truly top notch! We even had lobster tail! The meals were always artfully prepared and served by the kindest, warmest staff I’ve encountered on a cruise ship. Every meal was an event. During our scenic rides cruising the ...

Wonderful cruise, amazing sights, upscale?

We wanted to experience the pacific northwest and travel with some good friends. The literature advertised this as upscale, all inclusive. We've taken many ocean cruises (15+) but never a river cruise anywhere. I'm not sure I'd say this is upscale, and I'm not convinced its worth the additional monies versus what you'd pay for a large vessel cruise. The Hop On/Hop Off bus is a nice feature, as ...
