Unfortunately P&O have dropped the ball in the food area, tarnishing one of the reasons many of us enjoy cruising.
This was our first cruise since Covid, having a couple with P&O prior and also another larger company. In the past we considered P&O food to be marginally better than the technically 'better' cruise line, but let down by the quality of entertainment. Now the entertainment is good ...
This was our first experience with P&O Australia and our expectations were not high. The 10 night cruise was to Papua New Guinea and consisted of four ports and six sea days. This cruise was sold out.
Before we departed Brisbane Cruise Terminal the captain announced that due to civil unrest in Rabaul we would no longer be visiting that port. We were looking forward to Rabaul as this seemed to ...
This was my first cruise for my 40th birthday. First and foremost I must say most of the staff onboard were amazing, from the room turndown crew to the staff at Lukes bar.
Now for the negatives, I was disappointed at the lack of seafood on an Australian ship. The restaurant had no lobster and the $40 prawn platter was infected with white spots and mushy as if frozen and thawed.
The lack of ...
Okay, we went on the 4 night cruise to Airlie Beach and these were my thoughts on the ship.
So firstly a positive about the pacific encounter is there is so many places to sit and have a drink or just chill out. You have the altitude room at the top of the back of ship, not huge but plenty of seats and amazing views from the back of the ship. Many different seating venues around the atrium ...
Things went bad before we even left the dock. A passenger had a massive heart attack just before ship was to leave, this took hours to be fully investigated, man was removed from ship eventually, and unfortunately later died. Also heard that a teen had tried vaping and had an allergic reaction at the same time and presume was also removed. Thus ship left at 11pm and we were told we would miss ...
We choose P&O because wanted to check P&O out, we boarded at Brisbane International Cruise Terminal (very sad about this Terminal). Ship was great as being an old Princess ship it has the Princess layout. Loved the centre of the ship with the different levels, the theather was nice an roomy. Dining rooms were a good size. There is nothing wrong with a budget cruise but even as a budget cruise ...
I suspect that P&O Australia suffers from brand inconsistency with the other Carnival brands. Carnival are cheep and cheerful fun ships and Princess is an affordable premium product with Cunard a cut above that but where does P&O Australia fit? I suspect that P&O Australia's problem is its trying to sell and cheep and cheerful at a semi-premium price and its suffering because of that.
So ...
In short:
P & O rethink the smoking on the ship, get it away from Oasis space
Advise people that services aren’t available before they get on the ship
When refurbishing rooms check the water stains, and fridges.
Check your own paperwork before talking to the customer.
Was so looking forward to this cruise after COVID, but have been slightly disappointed. Booked the Mini-suite and ...
Did a 7 night Qld cruise on the Encounter sailing out of Brisbane in 2022. Embarkation was a nightmare that took a couple of hours just to get on the ship. I hope that process has since been smoothed out.
This was our first post COVID cruise. We have cruised previously on Royal Caribbean, Carnival and P&O (3 times). The ship was nicely sized, but lacking that wow factor compared to other ...
We paid what I consider an obscene amount for a balcony room, but were unable to use the balcony. Unfortunately, the door to the balcony was almost impossible to open and close, so impractical to use - in fact this made a shoulder problem my wife is experiencing far worse, due to her attempts to open/close this door. Despite numerous requests during the cruise, no rectification was forthcoming. ...
