We're seasoned cruisers with over 30 cruises on most of the major cruiselines but not Oceania. We went on 3 Oceania Riviera cruises in 2023, Sep/Oct from Amsterdam to Barcelona and then back to back cruises in Nov/Dec from Barcelona to Istanbul and then Istanbul to Dubai. My review is on all 3 cruises on the same ship.
We booked the Holyland & Middle East cruise the first day it was available ...
We booked a penthouse suite and splurged because it came with a butler and the ability to have meals in our room, plus a balcony. Our butler, Samrat, was excellent and if you can afford the cost of a PH room I’d recommend it. Only do not book room 8045. We asked to be changed the minute we got into the room because as Samrat was talking, I couldn’t pay attention due to the scraping noises above ...
We chose the cruise for the itinerary and supposed quality of the cruise. The itinerary was great, but the cruise was nothing special compared to any others we have taken. The stateroom bathroom was exceptionally small. We had an Oceanview room on the 6th floor toward the front of the boat. The room was larger than most as the balcony area was inside the room. Because we were over the ...
I have sailed 5 times with Oceania. The food has been the primary reason and the service. The food was actually terrible on the new Vista. Room service was not edible. Red Ginger had the best food out of all the restaurants. The bacon was tasteless. Even the ketchup was an off brand that was horrible.
The penthouse suite was great but the vibration from the engines woke me up at night. I have ...
Chose this cruise for great itinerary and Brand new ship. Although bathrooms are now larger, staterooms below the "penthouse" suite category are simply too small. Far less space than Seaborne, Regent and Silversea! But most disappointing is closet space!! Actually ridiculous that a New ship would have a shared 2 person closet that measures less than 2 meter/yard wide, and only deep enough to fit a ...
The good. The food on this cruise was the best I have ever had on a cruise. The bathroom in my standard stateroom was the nicest I have ever had on a cruise. Our room steward was amazing throughout the two weeks. He never failed to keep our room clean twice each day. He went out of his way to refill our refrigerator and ice bucket. They do not nickel and dime you on this boat which is very ...
This back to back (12 + 7) days cruise was booked one year ago. Four weeks before departure we were informed by Oceania that our chosen stateroom 7004 was unavailable for "Maritime Technical" reasons. We chose this particular cabin because of the extended balcony. Phone call queries with both our Travel Agent and Oceania as to what this term meant proved fruitless. We eventually agreed with ...
Personal Background Information: I've been on the S. S. France in 1969 with roomates from University, crossing the Atlantic from New York to LeHavre; and subsequently the Norwegian Prince in the middle 1970's in the Caribbean with a group of 12 on a pre-wedding trip- Bermuda and Puerto Rico; and on the Crystal Symphony as a solo traveler in 2009 in Norwegian Arctic waters. The Riviera is the most ...
First the good: the itinerary was spectacular, and we all had the trip of a lifetime. We also liked the mid-sized ship... It had everything you needed, but was easy to get around.
So... Why 3 stars?
A bit of background: our group of ten is not new to cruising. We've been (multiple times) on Royal Caribbean, Princess, Holland America... And two of our group has been on Crystal, Azamara, and (yes) ...
Our first cruise with Oceania (Regatta) was a gem. We were especially impressed by the quality of the food, so we looked forward to the experience on their decades newer ship, the Riviera. Cabin was great. Service was great. Food was awful because the hot food was all to often not hot. We were served supposedly hot food that was at refrigerator temperature. The only hope of being sure ...
