chose this for Israel. The accessible cabin and balcony was better than expecting although having a quick look at cabins in the same grade they did look small. MDR not enough choice on menu for 12 days would have been acceptable on 4 day cruise. Service was very slow. Only had 4 sea days so daytime entertainment should have been easy instead of non existent. Can only hope this is a fault of this ship and not throughout the fleet because of new company policy. Only the second cruise with Celebrity but must say had it been the first we would not go back for the second. The embarkation and disembark was very well organised so they have that in their favour Didn't use shore excursions but did hear mixed reviews. Now formal has been taken over by Chic it may have been better to at least insist on smart dress based on the first person I saw who looked like he was wearing work clothes which hadn't been washed for at least 4 weeks. Spent 12 nights on the Celebrity Constellation in October 2016. For a 14 year old ship she is in very good condition. She was refurbed about 3-4 years ago but is well maintained. She does not have the glamour of some of the newer ships perhaps but that was of no consequence. Sailed from Athens. Took Bus X80 from Syntagma Sq and were dropped off about 50m from check in. Check in was painless and since we were early all classes checked in quickly. We had opted for Aqua Guarantee and were allocated cabin 9046. It was very typical of balcony staterooms on that level in the forward half of the ship. The overhang from the pool deck had several consequences. There was a lot of condensation on the underside of the pool deck which dripped onto our balcony in the mornings. In warmer weather it may not be an issue. The sun only got to the balcony early or late in the day. In warm weather this would be a bonus. Another bonus was that when it did rain our balcony was protected. We liked dining in BLU restaurant which is reserved for Aqua class only. The service and presentation was very good. We had a couple of lunches in the MDR and were pleasantly surprised by the standard there also. The Buffet was of a slightly lower standard than we would have expected but that seems to be a deliberate strategy by Celebrity to pitch their upper tier dining experiences at your wallet. While the specialty restaurants fit the 5* billing the buffet is only 4* based on our limited experience. Celebrity appear to position themselves to target travellers who are prepared to pay an average price for a cruise but then pay extra for the premium levels of dining. We had a very full cruise in terms of activities and found ourselves lingering in the restaurant chatting with fellow cruisers and consequently did not attend any of the theatre presentations. Feedback from others indicated we had not really missed out most nights. This cruise was supposed to originate in Istanbul but after the June 2016 Terrorist bombings Athens was made base port. Everyone we spoke with was disappointed but realistic in their understanding of the changes. Most had Israel as No1 target and Istanbul as No2 so were not totally put out. Celebrity were very supportive with the changes forced on us as a result and they score a definite 5/5 for that. Our tour itinerary:Started from Athens; Kusadasi, Turkey; Rhodes, Greece; Limassol, Cyprus; Haifa, Israel; Ashdod, Israel; Valletta, Malta; Civitavecchia, Rome Disembark. Every port is interesting and there is more than enough to do. Just walking around the Old Town in Rhodes was a day in its self. it is about 300m from the Dock. In Cyprus we took a bus tour organised by another cruiser which was interesting. Consensus is that you need to have an organised tour in Israel. Those who simply went ashore in general felt they had not made the most of their time. Ashdod is too far from Tel Aviv or Jerusalem for an easy shore day unless you have an organised tour. In Malta we took a HOHO bus trip and saw quite a lot of the island. It was only 2 1/2 hours but there was not a lot of time for more unless you were organised and next time we would do a tour. Disembarkation at Civitavecchia can be an expensive process unless you have plenty of time. Transfer to Rome or the airport was offered at $75 pp. We had all day so with others we met on board we walked off the ship at 9.00; waited ages for the port shuttle to the gates. we were deposited at a bus stop and paid $2 for the bus to the station and $5 for a train ticket to Rome where we arrived at 12, put our bags in storage and walked around until about 5.00pm when we took a bus to the airport for $6. It can be done reasonably cheaply but you need time and public transport was crowded. Overall a very pleasant cruise and Celebrity are definitely up there for us. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the exciting ports we visited. We visited Israel and it was an amazing place. We stayed over night in Jerusalem and felt quite safe. The place is so full of history and is so powerful, just loved it. We thought the crew on Celebrity Constellation were great and very helpful especially a waiter in the buffet, his name was Angel and he was just loved by everyone. He used to sing Angel of the morning as he got you your coffee or tea, just a delight. We found the food in the dining room to be on the cold side and we went to The Ocean Liner speciality restaurant as we do every time we cruise with Celebrity but were so disappointed with the food and service this time. The Tuscan Grill was amazing. We only did our excursions that we arranged through the site on Cruise Critic with other members. We met some awesome people from all over the world. The days at sea could of had more games ect but all they seemed to have was Art Auctions and sales. The TV system needs upgrading and they played the same movie over and over for 24 hrs then changed it. We like to veg out in the afternoons when we have a day at sea to recoup after the port intensive cruise and on all our other cruise they had about 4 movies playing which was nice. There were all other channels on the satellite but mostly Bloomberg or news channels. We had a balcony cabin 6078 and then concierge 8076 the last cabin was slightly bigger not by much though. But we enjoyed our cruise very much. Read Less

We booked this cruise a year and a half ago. What fun planning. There were 4 of us, all retired, but active. We picked this cruise because of the itinerary and our past experiences with Celebrity. The ship was originally to depart from Istanbul, but the bombings at the airport there resulted in Celebrity changing our departure port to Athens. I am glad I booked my air thru Choice Air, as they took care of the changes without charge. We arrived 3 days early and stayed at The Central Athens Hotel. It was located in the Plaka district, which was close to many of the sights. Breakfast was included. We used Michael's Amazing Tours for a day trip to Corinth and Athens. We also used him for our transport from the airport to the hotel and a half day tour before he dropped us off at the ship. Good tours, good driver. Embarkation was a breeze. We were onboard in 15 minutes. Due to a drop in price we had a concierge stateroom. Not sure the extra perks are worth paying more, but since it didn't cost us extra, it was nice. As I have found in the past the crew was attentive, and friendly. The food was good, although I missed the nightly Sushi in the buffet. Now you have to pay for it at Sushi on 5. Entertainment in the main theater was about the same. The lounge had a good Irish couple, singing and playing. The wine cellar had a violin duet from Poland who were very good. Internet was much improved! Almost as fast as home. The plans offered were expensive and restrictive. That needs adjustment. Top marks for whoever came up with the reboarding procedure. Every ship I've been on has had an employee with sanitizer at the gangway. This trip you didn't get spritzed until you put all your stuff on the belt for the x-ray machine. Made getting back on board much easier. We used private companies for our tours, since we like smaller groups. In Kusadasi we went to Ephesus. It is a don't miss site. The tour also included lunch at a rug factory. Yes they would love to sell you a rug, but there was no pressure. Ottl Travel's guide was very good. Next up was Rhodes Greece. We had no plans and just walked the old city. In Limassol, Cyprus we did a jeep tour up to the mountains. I'm to old to ride in a jeep! We did have a very good lunch at a tavern in the mountains. Now came the highlight of our trip, Haifa and Ashdod. We had 3 days in Israel and wore ourselves out. GTI provided the tours and we saw Galilee, Nazareth, and the Jorden in Northern Israel, then Jerusalem and Bethlehem the following day. Our final day we went to Masada and the Dead Sea. There was so much to see, glad we got a taste. We had friends who were there in May and they said it was too hot. Glad we did it in Oct. as the weather was in the 80's. Our last port before Rome was Valletta Malta. We walked around the city and enjoyed the sights. We departed the ship in Civitavecchia. We took a tour of Orvieto and Bagnoregio (two hill towns in Umbria) on the way to Rome. We rented an apartment for 4 days and saw most of the places visitors go. Fun time. A great trip, with many memories! Read Less

I chose this cruise because of the itinerary and enjoyed all of it. I was a solo female and loved having a cabin to myself. The food was good and my cabin was kept clean and tidy. I used room service several times after a day of long tours. I enjoyed getting up early and getting coffee and watching the sun rise. The ship was quiet and beautiful in the early morning. The tours offered by Celebrity were nice but I also booked tours through another tour company and went ashore to ports that were close to the ship. Each decision I made turned out great! The variety of choices was why I booked this cruise. I got to know a lot of nice people on my tours which made me feel comfortable. I stayed on 4 extra days in Rome and toured the Vatican, took a day trip to Tuscany, did some wine tasting and did a segway tour of Rome. ALL EXCELLENT! Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the wonderful itinerary. Malta, Cyprus and Israel were all new to us and having the chance to spend time in Rome after the cruise was a big factor in our decision. The Constellation is a very nice ship. Some of our fellow passengers felt it was getting worn looking, but we felt everything was in excellent condition and upscale. The food in the dining room was a big disappointment. Despite flowery descriptions of different sauces, it was mostly bland and like something you would get at a Dennys restaurant. The lobster night was good and there was always a New York sirloin steak on the menu if you didn't like the daily presentations. We felt that Celebrity nickel and dimed us to death for every little thing on the cruise. The lowest price wine in the dining room was $37 a bottle. When you added on the 18% gratuity, it brought it to over $40 a bottle and this was no great vintage, but a domestic California or Washington state wine. They sold bottles of wine in the buffet for $20, but you could not bring them to the dining room. Just another example of their trying to extort as much extra money from the passengers as they could. On sea days there was a general lack of things to do unless you wanted to pay for a wine tasting or cooking demonstration. As usual, pay to play! There was only one free movie on the tv every day, mostly old movies and movies for kids like Zootopia! Of course, pay to view had plenty for $14.95 each!! Really! The price for the cruise was low so I guess that Celebrity wanted to make up for that by all the extra charges. It was disappointing. I don't think we will be too quick to book with Celebrity again. Certainly Holland America and are superior. We had a balcony cabin and were pleased with the size of the room and the balcony. The shows put on by the dancers and singers were really good. There was an Italian singer who was excellent, but the comedian, Womack, was not very good and offended a good number of people in the audience with his critique of American politics. We did not feel that was appropriate from an Englishman. The ports were excellent. We did not do any of the ship's excursions as they were a lot more expensive thatn independent tours which were easily found on the web. The dining room service could have been better, but it was not the fault of the waiter and assistant waiter. We had a table of eleven and they also had to serve an additional table of twelve. It was simply too much for two people to handle efficiently. Some nights we waited over half an hour for our appetizers to arrive. Read Less

Don't like the heavy pressure selling. Organized our own excursions which saved at lot compered to celebrity equinox and met some really nice people. entertainment was a bit limited, one group which moved around the ship sang the same songs for the 13 nights, no change at all. Great to see so many countries packed into the cruise, shame about Istanbul, but we go back independently to see this great city. found the service in the bars good but the attitude a bit lacking, had a run in with a member of bar staff telling me they didn't have a particular beer even though I had seen it the day before, when challenged it suddenly appeared. will cruise again not sure it will be with Celebrity Read Less

Everyone we talked to suggested we try a Celebrity Cruise, having completed 30 other cruises with different companies we decided to give it a go, Largest ship we have ever been on, oozed luxury in most areas always sunbeds available, Removed the gratuities once on board, however were reminded about them the day before we disembarked by letter with suggested rates to give. Tipped our cabin attendants only because their service was over and above expected. Inside cinema was very poor dark and dingy with very small screen, needs to have movies under the stars. The self service, open cafe was excellent with choice of food, very well presented. Silhouette Restaurant was used for any time dining, service was very slow and the tables were never ready when we arrived at 6.00pm even though the doors opened at 5.45pm. The Sky Observation Lounge, seemed to only have anything on after 10,30 p.m. Which was no good for people off on trips early the next day. This could have been used more for other entertainment during the evening, lots of people were saying, the timings on the ship were wrong, there seemed to be " dead times ", when nothing was happening , this was said by various ages young and middle ages, so not only us noticing it, strange really. The entertainment team, performed twice in the evening 7 p.m. and 9.p.m. shows were average, have seen better elsewhere. They only did about 4 or 5 nights, out of a 13 night cruise, other variety guests we saw were not brilliant, although the first act Tenors of Rock. were outstanding. The shops were very expensive, and took up to much space on the ship, suggest they rethink this, and use it for passenger entertainment, Music in a few bars is not enough for a ship this size!! sorry really not impressed !! The Crew made the difference on this Cruise. Hazel, August and Sundep in the MDR were terrific. This 13 night Cruise out of Athens was a blast. Sister and brother in law from the U.K. flew in and joined us and made it a fun time. The Equinox was in great shape, the Crew do a really good job in keeping it imaculate. Kudos to Antonio our room attendant, fine job! We were very happy with our Balcony Cabin on eight. We had the Classic package and were pleased with the quality of the wine and other beverages that we had copious amounts of. The food on the whole was very good but they could do with a better selection of desserts at the Lunch Buffet and they should have rolls in the bread baskets at dinner. Minor points to be sure but it was noticed. Service in the Bars was very good over all. We enjoyed the Tenors of Rock. The Comedian and a couple of others. Not so taken withe the Production shows but my wife liked them. Different strokes for different folks. We are do it ourselves type of people regarding Tours. We don't want to spend 8 hours in blistering heat with a bus load of folks paying 100 Euros for that dubious privilage. Instead, for example, we took the local bus from Dubrovnik to Cavtat. I didn't realize we were going along half way up the mountains with a huge drop below. We took a boat back. We took the free Celebrity Shuttle to the local bus to the Train from Liverno to Florence return. In Ville Franche we took the Train to Monaco in the morning and to Nice in the afternoon. A lot of walking for us Seniors but it helped off set the food and booze intake on the Ship. We had a really good time on the Equinox in the Med. Read Less

We went on this cruise for our 40th anniversary. We had seen what we considered a really good deal on one of the websites which included prepaid gratuities, a classic drink package, and $450 on board credit. I would say that the ship was absolutely wonderful. We had 2700 passengers and 1500 crew and it never seemed crowded (except in the theater occasionally). There are so many public areas spread around the ship that you can always find a place to relax and be alone (well, maybe not alone). We ate most dinners in the dining room. The service was great! The food was inconsistent, They were able to cook steaks exactly the way I like them (medium rare) every single time and several of the meals were excellent, but several did not live up to the description in the menu.. I also happen to like spicy food--not necessarily "hot"--just with spices added. The food seemed somewhat bland. My waiter offered to bring me hot sauce or Tabasco, but adding hot sauce at the table was not what I had in mind. We also ate one night at Murano and one night at Silk Harvest. The food and service was excellent at both restaurants. As for entertainment: that was inconsistent too. 2 of the shows that had guest entertainers were very good, but a couple of the guest entertainers were very mediocre and one was just plain terrible. The productions put on by the singers and dancers are not for us, but they are talented. It seems to me that all of the lectures and classes end up trying to sell you something. Really, all the up sell gets very annoying. Also, the gift shop has ridiculous prices on most items. My husband developed a cold late in the cruise and had to pay $18 for a bottle of Dayquil! Also, the cost of the internet package! Only one package is offered at $299! We took 2 tours with the ship--both of them overpriced, but we used OBC. The one we took to Chania was pretty good, but substituting Chania for Athens--definitely not the same. The other one was transportation to and from St. Peters Square in Rome with a tour guide. We usually could not tell if she was speaking Italian or English, especially when she started to talk fast. Also, coming back to the bus, she walked so fast we could hardly keep up with her. We scheduled most of our other tours with local vendors and while they weren't all 5 star tours, they were much more reasonably priced and did not have 30 to 40 people on them.. Since this was our first time to Europe and our first cruise over a week in length, we learned a lot, But we had a great time and have wonderful memories. Read Less

I was very happy with the ship overall - its cleaniness and facilities were great, the syaff were happy and helpful but felt very let down by the quality, and choice of the food in the Oceanview Cafe (buffet). It was often cold and uninspiring and tasteless.and on a 13 day trip it got very boring. Food at the Silhouette Restaurant was also only OK and although the menu changed every day it was small portioned and average. We went on a P&O cruise earlier in the year and their Pantry ( buffet style) was far better. I was more than happy with my cabin but felt the staff cold be a lot more knowledgeable in regards to what was available at the ports of call if you chose to do your own thing and not take one of their expensive off shore excursions. I felt there could have been more guidance. Read Less

My husband and I have taken three other cruises on two other lines. This was our first Celebrity cruise. We were told it was a notch above many other cruise lines, but we didn't see that really. We loved the Equinox, the food was outstanding, the entertainment pretty good, the excursion and transfer we took were great, the cabin service was good except the steward forgot about every other day to stock something...once wash cloths, once toilet paper, once Kleenex, once shampoo. Everything else in our cabin was great. We loved having a balcony. We arrived in ports right on the scheduled times. The waiters in the Murano Restaurant (Olga, Daniel and another gal whose name I can't remember) were SO good at their jobs and did their work with a smile. We really appreciated their good service. Made the meal even better (and the food there was out-of-this-world delicious!) On our visits to the customer relations desk, we were treated great and every question answered with a smile. We chose this cruise because we had never been to Turkey and Greece, so losing Istanbul was a disappointment, although understandable. And this was our first Celebrity cruise which we wanted to try. the staff was excellent. All of them! the food in the dining room was excellent. the Bacio Café was probably our favorite spot, and with the guitar player...outstanding! the live band and sometimes DJ, before our 830 dinner was also great...nice to be able to have a few dances before going into the dining room for dinner. the only thing that really bothered us is that we had the late night dinner spot at 830pm and it would have been great to go to a show after dinner. we did go to the Sky Lounge on most nights and usually the music was pretty good, especially the first few nights. but after the first week, the music selection in the Sky Lounge started to waiver. there weren't too many people in attendance, especially after 1030pm. so instead, it would have been great to go see a comedian or some type of entertainment. we really missed that as on other cruises there was always entertainment after the late dinner seating. for this reason, we may go with another cruise line for the next 10 yrs, and then when we're a bit older, come back to Celebrity. all the ports were good, for some we made our own travel arrangements, ie Rome and Florence. we thought Celebrity should have offered a shuttle and a 2-day pass for Dubrovnik as 13 euros each seemed to be a bit much to go into the Old Town, especially when you would have to pay that again if you wanted to go into town the next day as well. Hello! We chose this cruise because of the Itinerary, all across the Mediterranean, starting in Istanbul and finishing in Barcelona. However, this changed before departure, given the events in Turkey, Celebrity decided to skip Istanbul and we shipped from Piraeus in Athens. The itinerary was still good enough and we kept the plans. No regrets. The overall experience was incredible! Very smooth embarkation process, the ship is beautiful and huge! We were somehow in a budget so we had an inside cabin which was very spacious with lots of room for storing, good shower and restroom. Certainly and accounting on the amount of time you actually spend in the stateroom you do not need more. I would definitely book an inside cabin again to save some good money. Food very good. The main dinner Silhouette is outstanding, you could easily skip the specialty restaurants because of this. Ocean View buffets were always good and fresh. We had the 3 dinner package so: - Tuscan Grill - good dinner but not super special, you can easily skip this with no regrets. - Silk harvest - Pretty dishes and good food. Recommended. - Murano - Great experience! Recommended. The on board entertainment and activities seemed sometimes a little repetitive and I don't want to say dull, but yeah... maybe we being Latin Americans (34 yo Mexican Couple) are more used to other kind of more playful and inclusive fiesta. I would recommend more variety on the music in the pool area and more repertoire of the live music. It was the same music always again and again!! Very odd. In a second thought, maybe the entertainment was not perceived as super good since the demographics of the cruise were +60 yo people and they don't go along very easily. The theatre shows were great, I enjoy every single night of them. The one with the big hat in the scenario is an outstanding-Cirque du Soleil-level act. Great singers! Service was GREAT!!!!.... must of the time. Very smiley and friendly staff. The only place it was not as friendly was at the grill up the pool, where you get hamburgers and hot dogs, staff there was grumpy, but I can see why, it was so hot and standing so much time at the grill doing burgers must be painful!! The Shore excursions we took with Celebrity were good, and very nicely organized. However, I only recommend this for large cities with little time to see all so you will have the tranquility of not being left by the ship if something goes wrong or you're late. Otherwise, there are cheaper and reliable options elsewhere online like Viator. Or go around and explore yourself if the destination is a small town and not difficult to access. We would certainly do it all again with Celebrity and the Equinox! Read Less

The service in the dining room was great and the room stewards did a superb job. The food had high points and average points but there was always something that appealed. Always love Celebrity but sometimes feel the prices are getting a little out of hand. This particular cruise was well priced and included air. The ports were particularly appealing and we were given plenty of time in port. Two ports were over night which is nice - gives a different perspective. The staff in the Silhouette Dining room - Hazel, August, the wine steward and the maître d were all excellent and added a lot of value to our experience. We really enjoyed the 4 Tenors of Rock and most of the nightly entertainment. The 3 sea days were a nice way to enjoy the ship and rest between shore excursions. Plus there was no shortage of things to do after dinner. My wife made regular use of the fitness facility and enjoyed its amenities. We thoroughly enjoyed our first cruise experience, overall being excellent and we had a fantastic 25th Wedding anniversary. All the staff and crew were great and were always full of smiles and created a wonderful atmosphere and the ship was extremely well maintained and clean (even to my wife's ocd expectations on cleanliness and hygiene). The staff in Blu were exceptional, in particular of those who served us, Rey, Kayna and Victor who were outstanding - it was our 25th wedding anniversary and we were treated like royalty, nothing was ever too much trouble for them, there only wish was to please us. Our stateroom attendant Danisha was extremely attentive and performed well above expectations. As first time cruisers we took a lot of time in preparation, using the internet and the Cruise Critic roll call to gain information on the best type of cruise to suit us based on age range, dining, entertainment and destinations and value for money. In most areas this cruise met those needs, only failing in a few areas: Details of facilities in state room - only one Euro power point. No kettle in room. Very expensive to get clothes ironed after a long journey to ship. Limited channels and information on TV in Room Late night entertainment not based on age/taste of people that were attending - advertised as top 40 but was actually playing loud Latino music. As it was not well attended it would have been better in Quasar rather than the Sky lounge. Overall the dining/bar experience was exceptional but entertainment could be improved upon. It was disappointing that Istanbul was cancelled as point of embarkation but understandable given the safety concerns. The port change from La Spezia to Livorno was a great disappointment as we would have liked to have visited Cinque Terre. For anyone not too interested in port excursions (hard sell by Celebrity- best to book independently as we did) the facilities on port days were restricted - breakfast in Blu finished early rather than later - we would have liked a lie in after a late night. Too many luxury shops and not enough basics - the products offered on sale were poor value for money - what was the point of having an art auction every day? The Spa prices were ridiculously high - my wife booked an appointment, the time was not made clear and was charged $80 for 15 minutes of seriously bad hair styling (damaging her hair - hot hair dryer on dry hair with no products) - we did however receive a full refund after complaining to the manager. All our ports were better than the one before, it was truly hard to select a favorite. Mykonos, Malta, Sicily, Amalfi, Rome. The weather was warm but beautiful. The waters like blue crystal. I had studied and planned and booked tours for each port and luckily they were all perfect. The tour guides, and the places we went. We loved Michael's Club, tho we had a drink package, we always found our way to that bar to visit, so there were bars and spots on the ship I never saw, Don't know if that is good or bad? We ate in the Suite Dining Luminare every night but one when we ate at Murano, and I liked the suite dining better. I liked the small feel and getting to know the staff. It was really a perfect vacation. Loved the grass outside area with the glass show and the concert on the green one night. There just was not enough time. Another sea day would have been great. Staff on the ship were top notch and the ship was beautiful. Read Less

I really used to love Celebrity, the level of service from the personnel onboard was so overwhelmingly friendly and the food used to be phenomenal. However, this last cruise to the Med did not leave me with a feeling of being well looked after and taken care of but more of a this is all part of the routine from week to week. We booked a Concierge Class cabin but really got none of the former benefits or even the promised benefits. No ice, only canapés on certain days, no choice of pillow, tattered linens, stained linens, disgusting smells in the cabin, rather annoying and somewhat disrespectful cabin steward and really bad food in the Oceanview Café and Tuscan Grille. The ports and the cruise itinerary were great, good live music and cocktails but the service just wasn't there for the rest of the ship. It makes me sad to see a once great cruise line begin to fade like Princess has. There are not enough staff and the one's there are overworked to the point of being abrupt and short with guests. Excellent ship and destinations and the arrangements all seemed to go smoothly. Our problem was service which was erratic and sometimes plain rude and unhelpful. Many staff were exceptional such as our waitress at dinner-but try getting good service on the customer desk-service with a scowl every time. I get the impression that Celebrity is on a savings drive. Our friends in a normal cabin did not get more than one shampoo etc all week and were told this was standard. They were so annoyed they may never use Celebrity again-save a few pennies, lose two great customers. Mmmmmmmmm. Our Aqua was OK, we rarely got all our extras without asking and the Aqua restaurant had such a horrid, fussy menu we didn't eat there. The Cruise Daily paper was often so wrong that you couldn't trust it. Portions at dinner are tiny and have been reduced since we travelled last year. It's good food but I don't want to leave the dining room hungry, which I did. Some of the corporate fun things have gone such as the dining room towel display-Celebrity seems to be trying to go upmarket whilst reducing the dress codes-mixed messages. On deck, no action was taken against people leaving towels on much sought after beds and going off for hours. Few drinks staff patrolling or cleaning up. There was a lot of good things on this cruise and we did enjoy but I felt that this was an unhappy staff, maybe they are facing changes but something is not right and overall I would say that it didn't inspire loyalty and not great value for money compared so some lines. This was my husbands first cruise and he was overwhelmed. Amazing cruise from beginning to end. Embarkation was very smooth, process completed in less than 15 mins. Our cabin was on the hump, deck 9. It was in a fabulous locationwith a huge balcony. Didn't hear any noise once the door was closed. We really enjoyed all the ports particularly Malta and the Amalfi Coast. Dining in the MDR every evening was a pleasure. We chose anytime dining and had the same table every evening, treated like royalty by Omar, Antonine and Ferat, the sommelier. Food was lovely, very varied and beautifully served. The ship did tend to get crowded on sea days however we always managed to find a lounger. On port days we often only left the ship for a half day trip and spent the rest of the time enjoying the lovely equino Can't wait to sail again Read Less

Recommended by travel agent. From the go, with embarkation through to disembarkation, things went very smoothly and seemed well organised. This was an excellent romantic cruise that really made us feel like "celebrities" The food was brilliant and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. We had a great itinerary except for Kusadasi which I did not enjoy at all. The ship itself is very nice, I especially like the real lawn on top. The entertainment, internet and drinks were of a very high standard. The only down side was the expensive shore excursions. With the drinks package we had, wich was a classic package, we didnt seem to be entitled to much more than the standard package, or if there was a beer on our package they would often not have it anyway. Next time I will get the standard package. Slightly more expensive than other cruises but wotth every extra cent. I would recommend this strongly for couples wishing to reignite that spark. Read Less

This was our first cruise and aside from a few minor complaints, it was amazing. We booked a transfer from the airport directly with Celebrity and it went very smoothly with the Celebrity representatives at the airport extremely easy to find. Embarkation took maybe 5 minutes at most and we were on the ship. The concierge class room we were in was a great size and the balcony with chairs and foot stools was perfect. The bathroom had all the amenities you'd need and the shower was especially nice. One of the perks with concierge is the afternoon snacks and we managed to get both a fruit and cheese plate every day which were nice touches. Our stateroom attendants did an excellent job making up and turning down our room and it was always spotless. The only real minor complaint we had was with some of the dining options. On the first day, we were hounded at every meal about drink packages but thankfully that stopped after the first day. The buffet was slightly inconsistent in that some days they had an amazing selection but then on other days it offered plain, bland and boring food. However, the dessert selection was always amazing and I'm surprised I didn't put on more weight than I did. We also tried the Tuscan Grill which was pretty good overall but they brought my steak out well done when I ordered it medium and service was a little on the slow side. The other issue we had is that we were billed at full price but were supposed to get 20% off which took a couple days to get corrected but it was corrected in the end. The dining wasn't terrible by any means but Celebrity is supposed to be known for having amazing food and we were just let down somewhat on a couple days. The entertainment was well done overall. We only ended up seeing two shows but both were excellent. Especially the Tenors of Rock. The hot glass show was also very interesting and I managed to win a bowl that they give away after every show. We didn't use the spa or fitness area but took a walk through and they looked nice. The pools were almost empty pretty much every day after 5 or 6 PM which was nice if you wanted to take a dip when it wasn't crowded. However, it was pretty chaotic after 9 or 10 AM on sea days. The ports were very good overall. Mykonos was beautiful and the ruins on Delos were very cool. Everything about Malta was gorgeous and I'd go back there in a heartbeat. We did the Taormina on your own Celebrity excursion and were slightly disappointed but that was mostly because we aren't big shoppers and that's almost exclusively what you do in that town. The Mt. Vesuvius hike and Pompeii tour was amazing and we were glad we did that. The only downside was the stop at the cameo factory which wasn't that interesting at all. I'd rather have the extra 30 mins at Pompeii than get stuck there. The only downside is that the guide we had during our Vesuvius and Pompeii excursion was somewhat lazy and didn't even count everyone all the time. I'm surprised we didn't leave anyone behind at one of the stops. Disembarkation was fairly smooth. There was just a slight wait after getting off the ship at Civitivecchia for the shuttle to the port entrance but overall we were very happy and would do it again in a heartbeat. Read Less

My 20th cruise and 5th with Celebrity - this was not nearly as good as the other Celebrity cruises. Some ways that Celebrity fell down: Embarkation was awful. We were dropped off by taxi and after going through initial security had to roll our luggage across a large parking lot in pouring rain while luggage handlers stood under shelter. Check in was quick. We did walk off disembarkation and there were no issues. Celebrity changed the itinerary to Israel two days before departure. We were in CDG airport when the text message was delivered. Less desirable ports were substituted - Greece cruises are generally less expensive than Holy Land cruises - no compensation was given except $15+ refund of Israel port charges. UK guests were given the opportunity to cancel with a refund which Guest Services adamantly denied. Israel booked excursions which are very expensive were not refunded - shipboard credit was given which meant a lot of spending on board or forgoing the refund. Room service was appalling. One morning we had a phone call at 7am inquiring if we knew the omelet we ordered for the 7-7:30 delivery was an upcharge. We knew. By 7:40 the food had not been delivered. After two separate calls it was delivered five minutes before we had to meet in the theater for an excursion. In all cases the hot food was room temp and berry parfait was soggy. (If the parfait is ordered in the spa area they charge so I guess I should be glad it was free!). We did receive a bottle of champagne and an apology, but we don't like champagne so it made a nice gift to a fellow cruiser. San Marco dining open seating - very slow service and cold food. One night we waited over thirty minutes for our waiter only to learn that there was no waiter assigned to our table! Chaos in seating diners for buffets in the MDR. I believe Celebrity knew it was a mess because on our last day we received six free chocolate dipped strawberries in our room from the Maitre-D. 10th floor buffet - good variety of salads and cold food but chronic missing cups, coffee, cream, dishes, etc. Hot Food selection was very mundane, however. Also frequently tables were loaded with dirty dishes in the evening when looking for a table. (we gave up on San Marco.) In general a severe lack of activities - it was good if you wanted a spa sales job, art auction, or other paying activity. Free activities- almost none. Enrichment speaker was good especially with the itinerary change. Entertainment was adequate - nice guitar in the cafe, and orchestra in the reflection lounge on a couple occasions; Other lounges nothing and they were all empty. It seemed like a very empty ship although staff denied it. Shore excursions were mediocre and expensive. The shore excursion staff was very good, though, and helped when I noticed at the last minute that I booked the wrong excursion on the TV. (Or maybe it wasn't my fault given how many problems I encountered.) Captains Club perks are nice, but most require a purchase. (Free: 90 mins Internet, scoop of gelato, launder 20 items, dry clean one item, press two items. They make the room attendants do the free things!) Condition of ship was good given its age and seemed very clean. Our concierge room on deck 8 was small, but nice and up to par. A couple bright spots: Elias in Reflections lounge and Angel in dining room (how does he remember everyone's name?). Our stateroom attendant was also very good. This was very far from our best cruise and actually one of the worst. Read Less

I really enjoyed the above cruise on the celebrity constellation in October 2015. The employees of the company go out of their way to make you feel great. It was very disappointing not to go into Israel . Instead we went to 4 Greek islands. A shame there wasn't something else to break of all the old churches and look alike places, even tho they were interesting. Other cruises had many informative lectures, but the celebrity did not. That was not good. Their crew of actors for their production numbers were phenomenal .! This was not a cruise for children as about 90% of people were 60 and older. That was a plus for some of us! Naturally shore excursions are high, as they are on any ship. I found the hop on/hop off busses in a number of cities to be great. Besides giving a bit of info as u pass a point of interest, you pay one nominal fee for a 24 hour pass and you can get on and off the bus whenever it stops! These are run by the port you are in and big competition for the shore excursions sold! Our stateroom was very small, but I heard that other ones in the same area were a bit bigger. But I never plan on staying in it for too long anyway! There was a big fitness area, spa, and beauty area. For what we got, where we went, saw, and duration, this was a great deal! Read Less
