Really BAD Food, NCL Theme is “SELL, SELL, SELL”

Review for a Pacific Coastal Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

Think about the food this way: You will enjoy it if you liked what they served in your high school cafeteria! We did not enjoy the specialty restaurants either (we did Le Bistro and the “Brazilian Steakhouse”). The main dining room was only OK on a couple of nights. The Chin-Chin restaurant was horrible. Not a shrimp to be found on this ship. Smoked salmon? An extinct species. ...

Embarkation and disembarkation were awful

Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

I’m trying to write this while everything from this cruise is fresh in my mind (we returned yesterday). This is a review of a Norwegian Cruise Lines week-long cruise to Mexico from San Diego and is fairly lengthy. If you want to skip the details, the conclusion is that my wife and I have been contentedly cruising on Celebrity for a number of years. We will be skipping NCL in the future in favor ...

Embarkation/Entertainment

I've gone on Carnival, Norwegian and Royal Caribbean. Norwegian has the best dining with Specialty Restaurants but other than that it's a very boring ship. Too many children running around unattended, hot tubs full of children. Comedy night was 18+ but people bought their children so the comedian talked about oral sex and masterbation as I sat there with children around. Left there and went to ...

No explanation why we didn’t stop at Nicaragua, which was what we paid for.

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

Plus Food was normally pretty good Staff were mostly polite and accommodating Minus Not stopping at Nicaragua changed the dynamic of the cruise. Too many days at sea. Also, no explanation or apology, just a note on arrival. Not acceptable The constant announcements through the canal starting at 6am, and going all day, was a real distraction. Entertainment was somewhere between ...

Family Christmas Disaster - We will NEVER cruise with Norwegian again!!

Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

My sister and I have travelled on numerous cruises together and this was our first time trying Norwegian. We are comparing our experience on Norwegian with our experiences on multiple Carnival cruises as well as with Holland America. We are in our late 40s. We decided to take a family Christmas cruise with our parents (who are in their 70s), and my 2 teenage children to celebrate several ...

Poor food, service, and communication

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Norwegian Pearl

There was a lack of information provided prior to embarkation. Shortly after making the reservation, it was changed from a 15 day cruise to a 14 day and the embarkation port was moved from Los Angeles to San Diego because the Acapulco stop was cancelled. We understand that was for safety reasons, but there was no explanation for why we had to lose a day of vacation or had to alter plans to ...

Quality of services are down from previous cruises with the same company

We are returning customers. Our previous experiences help us deciding to take this trip also. Are we disappointed this time or what. Room is clean. Shows are ok. The restaurants are not what they promoted. There's no free style. No shorts. No caps, no sleeveless shirts for man but ok for women. Food is unacceptable. Some of the crew members are great. Some look down to you if you order ...

Disorganized. All prior cruises on other lines were better.

We chose this cruise due to the trip through the Panama Canal. Most of the food was mediocre with some good food at the specialty restaurants. All service staff were very congenial and helpful. Many smiles and always ready to help. Nightly entertainment was excellent. The bed gave backaches to my wife and I. Even though we saw many new mattresses loaded onto the ship and saw them in storage ...

"Is this the first time they have done this"

This was a once in a life time deal to sail to the Panama Canal and see what it was all about. We have sailed on RCL and Princess in the past. Lots of factors involved in deciding on this cruise but location, timing and price where major factors. Not sure if "price point" is where NCL fits in but I somehow thought in my mind that we were signing up for a top notch cruise and we were both very ...

"Steerage" Quality Food makes the SUN the Ship for U!

Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Norwegian Sun

We knew, going in, that Norwegian’s FOOD was rated as sub par in the Cruise industry. However, we got to experience it first hand. Luke Warm Coffee & entrees & room temperature salads. How can ya mess up traditional “Hot & Sour Soup” , a “STANDARD” in the Chinese Food Tradition, the Norwegian Chef sure did. Stale Baguettes thru the 3rd day. Flat Soda in most every Bar. And when mixed in a ...
