Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Sun

Sun’s Transatlantic crossing in April 2023 was advertised online so we booked and paying our deposit in our NCL online account. This is where the first problems started, we seemed to be charged additional fee when ever we booked on specialities dinners (part of the original cruise package) or add and pay for shore excisions. At lease three times we had to call the Florida office to get these ...

Picked the cruise for the great itinerary 9 ports in 11 days Spain, Portugal & Canary Islands in the Winter. The guests embarking in a few locations was new think that worked. Old school life boat drill not sure why we are revisiting that. Stood on deck for a 1/2 hour and got shushed a few times before the drill started. Entertainment 3 shows well done great singers and dancers. ...

NCL Penny Pinching

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Norwegian Sun

First, the positives: Norwegian Sun is a pleasant enough ship with mainly, very nice, helpful crew. We had been on two previous cruises with NCL so we thought we knew what to expect, although we were not aware that the ship had been repaired a few months earlier, having hit an iceberg in Alaska. Now, the negatives: NCL seem to have a new policy of penny-pinching. Terrible coffee and very ...

Floating Nursing Home

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Norwegian Sun

Between the two of us, my husband and I have been on 8 cruises, with various lines (Carnival, MSC, Norwegian, Princess and Royal Caribbean), so we generally know what to expect on a cruise. What we didn't anticipate when we booked an early December (2022) ten day Cruise on NCL from Lisbon Portugal to the Canary Islands, Gibraltar, Spain and back to Lisbon was to be on a floating nursing home. The ...

Sail date: Nov. 12, 2011 Ship: NCL Sun Paid a lot extra for a penthouse balcony aft of ship BIG MISTAKE! The room and balcony: Embarkation. With excitement and anticipation of a great vacation, we opened our balcony door and stepped out onto the balcony...splash...straight into about 3 inches of water and debris. We were told it was from "cleaning" and would drain away during embarkation, ...

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Norwegian Sun

Anyone considering a Baltic capitals cruise should overlook the relatively low price that is offered on the Norwegian Sun. The ship was recently refurbished and had all new carpets and bedding, so the interior looked nice and the beds were quite comfortable. The ship suffers from age and a design that has long since belonged in a museum. The showers are virtually unusable -- you have top open the ...

The Big Bang(s)

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Norwegian Sun

First Time Cruiser • Age 80s

We lost several nights of sleep in our interior room because of loud banging and vibration. The sounds were similar to a sledgehammer on steel and happened during rough weather (and we had some). These loud bangs occurred up to 200 times per night depending on size of the waves. The sounds were also heard by several staff members although no solution was ever found. The buffet was miserable. ...

Very little sunshine on the Sun

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Norwegian Sun

This was my first cruise with NCL. We chose it because of the amazing ports in which the ship called; Bergen and Alesund Norway, Shetland Island, Faroe Island, Iceland, Glasgow, Belfast and Dublin. The ports did not disappoint! They were beautiful. Ship: The overall ship was in pretty decent condition considering this cruise was supposed to be a dry dock instead. Overall the ship was well ...
