A Mixed Experience on the Norwegian Prima

Review for a Bermuda Cruise on Norwegian Prima

My family and I recently embarked on a cruise aboard the Norwegian Prima, one of Norwegian Cruise Line's ships. While there were some aspects of the trip that we enjoyed, we ultimately cannot recommend this particular ship or cruise line. I'll break down the positives and negatives of our experience below. Positives: The Spa Therma Lounge was a highlight, featuring two warm pools, saunas, a ...

Pros: The ship is absolutely gorgeous. The Sid Norman show is awesome and the Summer musical is great. Bermuda, as always, is amazing. Cons: The functionality of EVERYTHING on the ship. Splash Academy has room for maybe 40-45 kids. There were 500+ kids on our ship. You have to win the Splash Academy “lottery” virtual queue race to get your kid in. If you don’t get in the initial rush, you will ...

What a big disappointment!

Looked forward sailing on the Prima out of NYC as my last sailings on NCL Pearl, Jade, Gem were so-so. Although the new ship is beautiful with simple, sophisticated and beautiful decor, it literally can't fix the big issues with the NCL Prima. The positive - food is good and even outstanding at times. The restaurants are truly stunning works of art and almost magical. The majority of the ...

The Prima is one of the newest ships that I've cruised on & I really wanted to like this ship but in my opinion, NCL just failed to stick the landing with their latest redesign of their ships. Prior to the Prima, we've had 3 prior cruises with NCL on their breakaway plus ships, twice on the Escape & once on the Joy, both which we had relatively substantial experiences with. The Prima is ...

Almost nothing good to say

I won't reiterate what so many others here are saying, all the detailed step-by-step comments. I'll just fill in where I think I can add to what everyone else has already said: The crew is very overworked. Surprisingly, almost all of them still seemed to want to be as helpful as possible. I wouldn't have had the grace. But still, their collective efforts can't fix everything. Bar staff often ...

I chose this cruise because I felt my nearly 13-ye-old son had outgrown Disney CL. WI was aware Prima did not have the normal Entourage space but thought with Galaxy, mini golf, slides, pool, etc he’d have a good time. Instead, he said he’d rather cruise Disney. He, like me, discovered NCL talked the talk but didn’t deliver. The kid zones were small, though he liked the counselors. The dry ...

Would never cruise this ship again!

We live in upstate NY and the port is a easy drive. I booked the cruise for my husband and me before the ship had sailed and obviously there were no reviews. I started reading them on Cruise Critic and elsewhere and thought perhaps that reviewers were super critical and hard to please. Well, not so! Our trip was even worse compared to Caribbean destinations because we were at sea for 4 out of 5 ...

Very disappointed with the new ship

My wife and I took a cruise without the kids as a Christmas gift, and the Prima was an obviously choice being a smaller, more luxurious, more bespoke ship than NCL’s other ships that we have been on (Escape, Breakaway). The ship reminds me of a vintage Italian car - beautiful in many ways, but quirky, inefficient, inconvenient, and often maddening. Let’s start with the layout. If the other ...

It has been just over a year since our cruise on the Prima and our first ever on Norwegian, at the end of February 2023. I have now fully processed our experience and can give an honest review, instead of an emotional one. Let me preface my evaluation by again reminding myself, and anyone reading, that we are beyond fortunate to even have the ability to sail to beautiful locations and our ...

My husband and I traveled with our two adult children, our son-in-law and our two grandchildren. There were 7 of us in three cabins. If I add up what everyone spent on this trip it probably came close to $26,000 not including air fare, hotel, and personal expenses. If I add that in it was closer to $30,000. We had a 2 bedroom Haven cabin and the grandchildren stayed with us, one adult child had a ...
