The pluses and minuses of lower priced cruising.

We chose this trip because it fit into our schedule and for no other reason. It was a premium week and the prices were jacked up as it is everywhere. Having traveled on Carnival before we had some idea of what to expect. Nothing high end, but clean and most of the employees are very hard workers. The designers were extravagantly awful. Terrible colors and lots of odd choices. It looked like ...

This was out 9th Carnival cruise. We left out of Fort Lauderdale Port. The Splendor is one of the smaller ships of the Carnival fleet, but was still clean with things to do onboard. Food was good, really good burrito bar. Our cabin steward, Joey, was friendly and extremely attentive to our cabin. Dining room staff were awesome. We don't drink, but there are plenty of bars on-board. Enjoyable shows ...

I choose this cruise b/c it was a Spring break time frame and it went to a couple places we have not been. I have to say check in and the wait was fair. We had 11-11:30 check in and I think we were on board by 12:30-1. I went to the Tandoor once on-board and it was great. Unfortunately I did not make it back(cant figure out why). Actually I missed out on the grill too :( I like the ...

Food was average - carnival has had the same menu for years - change it up a bit. On last night there were 2 pasta dishes as main entrees - mac and cheese? That cost all of about 20 cents to make - maybe less. The pasta dishes i tried were lukewarm at best. No really good fish dishes other than salmon, how about some halibut or swordfish? Breakfast buffet was the same every day - same menu in ...

This was our 2nd cruise on Splendor, so knew about the pink! The ship is going in dry-dock soon and in some places, it showed. Not that the ship wasn't clean, it was. But there were worn and stained carpets as well as chairs and sofas. Some chairs you wondered about sitting in. The crew was wonderful except for our waitress and waiter in the Steakhouse. We felt looked down on and pretty ...

This was our second time this year we took a cruise on the Splendor. Our first cruise was mid March during spring break. Unless you are in your 20's skip spring break. We have been on 39 cruises. NCL, RCL, Holland and Princess. We booked the cruise for the new ports and the value. There were 19 people in our party - family and friends. We had a great time. Lido Deck- too loud you ...

Just sailed on the Carnival Splendor on March 15, 2015. Décor is in desperate need of a facelift. Main pool area had outdated plastic flower pot decorations that were faded and outdated. The grand atrium...not so grand. We originally signed up for my time dining. Went to the dining room and was seated. Waiter was not very friendly and didn't even introduce himself. My daughter ordered a ...

This was our first time embarking out of Miami ( cruised March 8-15) and we arrived a day earlier so as not to miss the cruise in case of bad weather affecting our flight from Toronto,Canada to Fort Lauderdale. We stayed at the Yve hotel in Miami overnight, visited the Bayside Market and had a great meal at Bubba Gumps which was also a first for us. It was easy to get to the pier with shuttle ...

Went with family for a winter break. Have been on 9 other cruises (this is the 3rd one with Carnival).. Best way to sum it up is - fine with some low points. First the high points. Embarkation. We had a suite so we got priority boarding so was very smooth, Steakhouse. Fantastic. To all of you who do not understand why it is not included in the price just have to experience this once and you will ...

This was our first Carnival Caribbean cruise, not one we planned but were asked by relatives to join, which we gladly did. I would not choose this itinerary again. Grand Turks and Nassau were not pleasant at all until we gave up on the excursion and returned to the port, in Grand Turk, and then enjoyed the day in the shops and at Margarataville. The ship was fine, not fancy at all, we had good ...
