Just sailed on the Carnival Splendor on March 15, 2015. Décor is in desperate need of a facelift. Main pool area had outdated plastic flower pot decorations that were faded and outdated. The grand atrium...not so grand.

We originally signed up for my time dining. Went to the dining room and was seated. Waiter was not very friendly and didn't even introduce himself. My daughter ordered a salad which never came. When we received our dinners, they both were cold. After dinner, I switched to the second seating where we were wonderfully taken care of. Seems like the my time dining (basically an open seating situation) is just a matter of hurry up and get these people out of here atmosphere. Although, it may have just been the waiter we received. Nonetheless, I was extremely satisfied with our second seating waiter so much so that I gave him a large tip up and beyond the standard gratuity.

Basic buffet food...average. Could only find some stuff in the main dining room (e.g. corn beef hash for breakfast) not offered at the buffet. Made to order omelets were very good. The lines were always long and right in the middle of the buffet line which caused a lot of congestion. Also the same issue at lunch time where there were made to order burritos. In my opinion, the best lunchtime food was the made to order burrito. Well worth the wait if there was a line. There was a rotisserie one level up which had chicken, mac & cheese, corn on the cob, etc. which was pretty good but not many people realized it was there. Read more
