Explora Journey's 1st ship delivers Italian luxury

Review for a Pacific Coastal Cruise on Explora I

This new cruise line is exactly what it says it is: Ultra Luxury cruising. I loved the 6 restaurants. Each with a different theme. Food quality, food presentation and service were excellent. The main swim pool (there are 4, 3 outside) is big enough to swim laps and it has a retractable roof. One of the other pools is an infinity pool and looks out to the ocean. Quite special! You ...

Not really a premium experience / nickeled & dimed

Review for a Pacific Coastal Cruise on Sapphire Princess

Overall, I would say "meh". 1. The stateroom was old and outdated, very reminiscent of the mid-1990s. The shower was small and the curtain did nothing to keep water out of the bathroom / bathroom floor. The bed was very comfortable however. 2. Upsell, upsell, upsell. They constantly try to upsell you on everything. Room service isn't free - you have to pay a $15 activation fee. At the ...

Late boarding, late disembarking, and long lines.

Review for a Pacific Coastal Cruise on Sapphire Princess

We were late boarding the ship due to Norovirus on the previous cruise that got 1/2 of the passengers sick. We were also late desembarking in Vancouver due to mechanical issues. Because of this we had to reschedule our flight which cost $550.00 but the cruise would only reimburse $400.00. On the first day we won a upgrade to one of the two premium restaurants but could not even use it because ...

Great ship

Smaller ship cruising was a new experience for us, and we are now hooked ! Overall the ship itself is beautiful, exceptionally clean and great staff. Embarkation in Vancouver took over an hour , however our suite was ready which was nice. The suite itself was lovely, apart from the pillows which we found so uncomfortable and the duvet was far too heavy ! We asked for a top sheet which did ...

Never taking a Celebrity Cruise again

Review for a Pacific Coastal Cruise on Celebrity Summit

Dining: Although we had early dining and had confirmed table (card was in our stateroom) we were booted within 2 hours of dinner and placed on anytime dining. With 2 small children in tow, this absolutely reprehensible. On top of that our waiter wasn’t friendly at all, we tried to greet him cheerily and he would just hand the menu and walk away. He had the capacity, he greeted his fellow ethnic ...

Our First Celebrity Cruise

Review for a Pacific Coastal Cruise on Celebrity Summit

We have cruised many times, and enjoyed cruising overall. Unfortunately, we were very miserable this time -- our precious vacation time wasted, money wasted. Overall it was a highly disappointing experience. Most crew members were friendly and helpful, from housekeeping to managers. Our cabin and most areas on the ship were clean. The ship is old. Summit needs a TLC and yet she is ...

Very pleasant cruise

Review for a Pacific Coastal Cruise on Celebrity Summit

Brief review: The Summit was most enjoyable. Very clean, the entire crew extremely friendly and accommodating. We were in Concierge Class on Deck 8 with an outstanding steward. Our cabin was quiet and in very nice condition. All the food we had from buffet to MDR to room service breakfast was quite good, although the choices in the MDR were all rather rich which is different from how we usually ...

Not the best food at sea

Review for a Pacific Coastal Cruise on Regatta

User Avatar

Despite Oceania claiming to be the best food at sea, sadly it is not. Lukewarm food on cold plates spoils the finest of cuisines. Like all cruise lines, the ship is spotless, the service is good and almost all crew very pleasant. Officers are conspicuous by their absence and safety does not seem to be their primary concern. An issue with mobility scooters was most poorly handled when lack of ...

Disappointed

Review for a Pacific Coastal Cruise on Zaandam

Not as good as previous experiences with Holland America. Food in the Lido was poorer quality and the hot table items were barely warm, very poor vegetable selection. the main dining room menu choices were not great and now there are more up charges. On previous cruises with this line and the others we have travelled with the food was always one of the highlights this time it was definitely ...

Relaxing short cruise

Review for a Pacific Coastal Cruise on Nieuw Amsterdam

Took a mini cruise from our home port San Diego to Vancouver. Positives: 1. Boarding was seamless and on the ship before noon. 2. Room was a veranda and very comfortable. Surprised there was a mini bathtub. Plenty of storage space though you need to use area under bed closest to the wall. Balcony was adequate. Mini fridge handy though space limited by for sale beverages. ...
