A Good Start

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Star

We have enjoyed the Viking river cruises and we also enjoy ocean cruising, so when Viking announced Ocean Cruises we booked very early for the first season. The ship was fantastic. The cabins were very spacious and the public areas are beautiful. The design and décor are exceptional and speak of comfortable luxury. The food was wonderful in all of the venues. The included excursions were hit ...

Enjoyable Cruise, but Not Quite Up to Viking Standards

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Star

We enjoyed the cruise overall, but we are unsure whether we will book another one on Viking Ocean cruises. The food was excellent, the crew was wonderful and the ship was beautiful, but the overall value was lacking. The included tours were average. If you really wanted a good shore excursion, you really had to book one of the optional paid tours. Of the two specialty restaurants - Manfredis was ...

New Ship; Affable Staff

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Star

On this lovely, efficient ship, with its comfortable cabins, and generous sized baths, we sailed to the beautiful capitals of Northern Europe. As we toured the ship during the first day, we found books on every deck available for us. While the ship held just over 900 passengers, the decks never seemed crowded. The food was very good at every venue. The wait staff gave admirable service. The World ...

Nice but Some Issues

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Star

For context, my cruise experience is 7 cruises on 5 cruise lines. My cruise on Viking's brand new ship was barely 2 weeks after christening. It was Stockholm to Bergen, backtracking on Viking Homelands initial Bergen to Stockholm run. New ship, new crew, new concept of operations for Viking. There was extra help to deal with the inevitable learning curve, and the need for some tweaking was ...

Baltic Ocean Cruise

Overall our cruise was what we had expected from Viking Cruises although this was our first trip. The ship was superb, if bigger than we expected, but never felt crowded even during embarking and disembarking. The staff was always warm and friendly and most accommodating. The food excellent and generous . We enjoyed all of our tours and tour guides. We are looking forward to enjoying a river ...

Viking Star, A Real Home Run!

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Star

We signed up for the inaugural cruise of the Viking Star Viking Homelands in August of 2013, knowing full well that it would be two years before we actually sailed. We also knew that this was Viking's first venture into ocean cruising, but since we enjoyed their river cruises, we would try out their first ocean liner. We enjoy cruising on the smaller ships that are able to get into the smaller ...

Great Itinerary

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Celebrity Silhouette

Loved the ports. The food was good. The service impeccable. The entertainment was not nearly as good as on previous voyages. Loved the captains sense of humor. There weren't as many activities available as in the past. The coffee bar was out of specialty teas when the trip started and never restocked them. All in all it was still a nice cruise. ...

A little too much Italian

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Silver Whisper

User Avatar

We did the Baltic and on to Southampton on Whisper and enjoyed our first experience with Silversea, although the food was all very Italian based, which can become tiresome. We found Seabourn to have a greater selection on their menus and wines were also a little better class. Having also completed over 70 days cruising with Seabourn the comparison was interesting to say the least. Port ...

A very warm Baltic

We booked this cruise (our 4th with Regent) about 7 weeks out on a H suite guarantee basis having seen a good deal. The following week the price was hiked up by more than double!! All the included BA flights had gone so instead of paying a supplement we accepted the SAS flight half an hour earlier at 07.15 from Heathrow. We checked in on line and printed our luggage labels in the machine in T3 but ...

Over attentive waiters and shore excursions.

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Marina

The cruise was excellent and our stateroom accommodation was excellent. We upgraded to Concierge Class but I'm not what we got for our money.as all the staterooms are the same size apart from the suites. Perhaps the bottle of champagne made the difference. The ship was very nice and beautifully fitted out. The dining experience left us a bit disappointed. The food was excellent but the food was ...
