Based on the previous reviews, I was a little nervous about this cruise but I have to say that we had an awesome time! This was our 5th cruise with NCL, we have always had great experiences with them. This is an amazing itinerary and such a great way to see Hawaii. We brought our 2 teenage boys and my 72 year old dad. Embarkation was easy, probably took about 30 mins or so and once we got on the ship everyone was incredibly welcoming. The rooms were not ready so we went to grab a bite to eat and drink and explored the ship and by the time we were done we were able to get into our rooms. By the way we had a standard balcony room for me and my husband, an inside room for my dad, and a window room for the boys. All rooms were clean and made good use of space. Smaller rooms than the big NCL ships but makes sense given the size of the ship. We were pleasantly surprised to learn that both Liberty and Skyline were open and we ate at both without much waiting at all. Teppanaki, La Cucina, Jeffersons, Moderno, and Cagneys were all open for specialty dining. The carbonara at La Cucina was so good!! East meets West was still closed as was the Gelato place, not a big deal from our perspective. Although there were many brand new crew members (some there for their first week), everyone we interacted with was friendly and helpful. There is a lot for these folks to learn in their first few days/weeks so give them some grace, patience and understanding. Since we were off the ship every day, we didn’t utilize many of the amenities but our boys did use the gym everyday and thought it was good. If I had one complaint (and this is for all NCL ships) it’s that the pools are freezing cold, there was hardly ever anyone in them. I don’t understand that…and it was like that on the Encore, Escape and Joy as well. The afternoon cruise of the Napali coast was stunning!! We were usually too tired at the end of the day to take in any of the entertainment but we did see an Elton John tribute show and it was really good. There was a small putting green but no golf driving net. The ship was definitely rockier than I anticipated which I didn’t love but it was often windy when sailing, the wind and size of ship would be a factor and I saw lots of people wearing motion patches. To summarize, was it as luxurious as the big ships, no, but I didn’t have to cook or clean all week and for that I am grateful, thanks NCL for a week that my family will remember forever.
