Pride of America Review

Better Than Anticipated

Review for Hawaii Cruise on Pride of America

Prior to sailing on 1/28/23 I read every review going back to the Covid lockdown and based on most of them I was expecting to be disappointed. Everything on the ship was open with the exception of East Meets West dining and the Gelato ice cream bar and yes, because of this one is made to feel that they paid full price for something and received less. 95% of the staff was enthusiastic and eager to please. Unfortunately it is the 5% that stick in your memory and make for an unpleasant experience. In fact, on an overall basis I felt that the lower level staff demonstrated better attitudes (smiles, conversations, eye contact) than the supervisors and officers. Food was as expected in all venues with the specialty restaurants being more than a cut above. Since we traveled with a small group of six, we did not rely on entertainment for things to do but I must say that it was by far the weakest entertainment as compared to our previous 15 cruises. Yes, the ship is old but it is clean and very well maintained. We did catch a bit of bad luck as it was cloudy and rainy for most every day of our trip but no one can be blamed for that. Overall, the six of us had a great time and once again enjoyed being together on a floating hotel traveling the beautiful Hawaiian Islands.
