We wanted to see glaciers, the calving of glaciers, visit the town, learn more about the culture, see totem poles, and enjoy the journey. Getting our luggage when we arrived in Anchorage was delayed. The port authorities (only two of them) took a few hours to check everyone's vaccines, etc. The scenery on the bus from Anchorage to Seward was spectacular. We didn't see much scenery because of heavy fog during the cruise until the last day we sailed into Vancouver. I wish we had gone at a different time of the year. Too much rain and too much fog. We enjoyed what we could, but frankly, what we hoped to see was disappointing. As for the crew on the ship, especially the cruise director and his assistant as well as the lovely UK quartet gave rousing performances in the evenings. They were great! This was our second Viking voyage. The food/restaurants didn't quite match up to our first experience on a river voyage. We prefer the smaller riverboats to the larger cruise ship. The crew and staff were very kind, friendly, and helpful.
My recommendation is that all cruise guests be required to wear masks just as the crew and staff are required to do. My partner and I both became ill the last 3 days of the journey on the cruise ship. As for the regular tours, they were okay but a bit disappointing.
