Viking maintained its expected excellent level of service in its Portugal's River of Gold cruise. The itinerary provided wonderful opportunities to learn about and explore the Duoro River region and to venture into Salamanca, Spain (and Santiago de Compostela, Spain on the post-trip). We visited cities, small towns, many wineries, markets and beautiful churches. We enjoyed and learned in all included and optional excursions.

The ship crew was professional, friendly and always helpful. Many crew members were from Portugal and their pride and knowledge about their country was heart-warming. All Viking and local guides were knowledgeable and apparently loved their jobs. The food was delicious and the dining staff were very attentive. We enjoyed the chef's daily menu presentation and sense of humor. Evening programs were enjoyable. Fellow travelers were friendly and great fun. We remain loyal Viking travelers and look forward to another cruise in 3 months! Many thanks to Torgil and other Viking staff for making the Portugal trip so special.
