My husband and I booked the cruise on the Celebrity Summit to celebrate our anniversary (11 years married; 21 years together). We told the booking representative at Celebrity Cruises about our anniversary when we reserved, and the note appeared on our confirmation documentation. The Celebrity Summit did NOTHING to help us celebrate our special occasion during the cruise, nor even acknowledge our special occasion: no signage, no cake, no celebratory message at dinner, nothing. We were treated differently from others celebrating special occasions on the same ship. On our floor alone, we walked past signs on other passengers’ doors from Celebrity Summit celebrating their anniversaries and birthdays, but we did not receive the same. After no acknowledgment from the crew, I had to go to guest relations and tell them about our concerns. The representative apologized and said they were going to do something. 24 hours later, NOTHING. One day later, I contacted a restaurant manager and told him that I wanted to speak with a supervisor in guest relations because of an issue. No one called me to follow up, but suddenly we received a bottle of wine and a plate of 6 chocolate-covered strawberries, and a Celebrity note card sitting on the table over the fridge in our room, with no acknowledgment of our anniversary or their error, ONE DAY BEFORE THE CRUISE ENDED. We spent a lot of money to go on this cruise, and to receive such disregard should be embarrassing for the cruise line, which prides itself in serving the LGBT community. I called and spoke with a Celebrity Cruises supervisor the day I returned to complain about the issue. She said that she agreed that this was a problem and she would follow up with me. It’s been three weeks since the cruise and she, nor anyone from Celebrity, followed up with me. On top of the information above, the ship's entertainment and daily activities were underwhelming. This was a terrible experience.
