  3. Carnival Breeze
We chose this cruise because of the ports of call and the fact the Breeze was sailing from Port Canaveral. Embarkation went very well and we managed to get on the ship within 30 minutes of arriving at the port. Our previous sailings were on the Carnival Splendor and the Breeze offered a refreshing change from the "pink" décor of the Splendor, but that pretty much caps the positives of this cruise. We have always taken advantage of the steak house on Carnival ships and I'm glad we did it on the Breeze as well, because it was the best meal we had all week. Based on our previous experiences with Carnival, the food served in the Breeze dinning room and the Lido restaurant was more than disappointing. We had beautiful weather for our two sea days, and found a couple of spots on deck 10 to relax overlooking the main pool. Bar service where we were was none existent. We had one server come by in 5 hours to see if we wanted anything. Everyone including us gave up and went down to get our own beverages. Unfortunately, we had issues with our balcony stateroom as well. First, the room had a terrible odor of sewage in it. We thought it might be from the shower not draining, but even after maintenance staff cleared the drain, the smell continued for the entire cruise. Staff were apologetic, but they couldn't fix the problem. We ended up propping our balcony door open to exchange the air when we were in the room. Word of warning for everyone, you don't want to look up at the air conditioning vent above the bed! The amount of dust and dirt accumulated there will shock you. We asked our stateroom staff to clean it for us, and they did a great job of wiping the vent grill down. I would consider sailing with Carnival again, but I won' be booking another cruise on the Breeze.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

  • Shark & Stingray Encounter
This excursion was a lot of fun. The crew were very friendly and took the time to share the history of Belize and its culture.

We did the two tank dive in less than optimum water conditions. It was pretty murky and you couldn't see very far. Not anyone's fault of course, but it does impact the experience. The dive company was very good.

Great Excursion! The folks at Anthony's Key were great to deal with and took us to some decent dive sights. Got some great underwater pictures.
