We have been on Crown several times in the past two years. Not through wanting to go on this ship but because of the ports the ship would go into. We knew from a short e mail from Princess that we would not call at Princess Cays and times in other ports would alter, all due to a problem with one of their engines.

Our first problem encountered was the television would not switch on. After calling the steward this was due to dead batteries in the hand controller and was remedied. The second problem was the bed. It seems the double bed is made with two single mattresses . However one mattress was higher than the other, this was not remedied.

We have noticed that in the past two years there appears to be shortages of waiting staff in the main restaurant. This was evident every evening. On several nights on this cruise we would sit at our table and watch as the waiters scurried around through having too many tables to wait on. On one night the poor waiter was so confused my wife received a starter and having finished was taken away and ten minutes later he came back with another starter! The main course was often cold and sent back. The main course menu was substandard for a main restaurant, a burger, a Kentucky chicken piece, and rib of beef which had been slowly cooked was still tough as old boots. Princess no longer have a wine waiter and the responsibility remains with the normal waiting on table staff. Our conclusion was that all of these problems were down to “ saving money”

Cabin Review

Balcony

Our cabin seems to have shrunk! No longer a settee or even a chair. Only two points to recharge iPads, mobiles etc.

See above review in relation to mattresses.

Several times when hot water was suddenly lost to cold water.
