First, I have taken several cruises and Matt, the cruise director is the best that I have encountered. The food, service and people on this cruise were great. The new years eve parties were fantastic. The three big problems that I had were the music, small atrium, and theater design. The theater design was terrible and is was hard to see anywhere in the theater. In the fun times, the listings often indicated that groups or individual artists would be performing variety music or reggae. Upon arrival, the entertainers were performing country or folk music. I complained about this and customer service advised me that the director would tell the groups to perform as listed in the fun times. Nothing changed. I do not blame the artists. I believe they did not book a diverse group for this cruise. While I like country music and am open to listening to all types of music, Carnival is usually much more diverse than this and I appreciate diversity. My kids also complained about the long waits for pizza (30 min or more). The staff was overworked. They were making pizzas for delivery, while others were waiting in line for pizza. Debarkation was also a mess. They changed the procedure on this ship. People were supposed to pick up luggage tags at a designated time. The procedures were unclear and many did not pick up their tags, were told additional tags were unavailable and had to carry their luggage off. This created a dangerous situation with people being overloaded with multiple bags and trying to carry them up and down many fights. That being said, I still enjoyed my cruise, but will not be booking any of the larger ships, like Vista and Horizon due the poor theater design and small atrium. I believe the music was an isolated problem with this ship and hope that debarkation was as well.
Very nice, well maintained, close to the LIDO deck. No noise at all.
